Comments (5)Hope you're having fun dreaming about your outdoor space! I agree that some simple landscaping could really create an inviting space for the front of this exterior, but fresh paint could make a big difference, too. Pay attention to the color combinations you see on other houses & try playing with color on a website like https://certapro.com/paint-color-ideas/. Or if you're up for something a bit more substantial, you could create a craftsman look over your porch which would give it more substantial curb appeal! I'm not crafty enough to do even a rough rendering of a craftsman look, but accidentally uploaded what I did, so don't judge me! LOL :)...See MoreHelp with updating exterior of 80's side hall colonial
Comments (24)I am a HUGE fan of Timberlane shutters in PA. The quality of these shutters is extraordinary. I have had them on my house now for 16 years - had them painted by my local painter, still look great. My DD got them about 3 years ago and they now offered the color she wanted in a factory paint job. The rep told me that these same shutters had been on the outside of their building in PA (harsh winters there!) now for 19 years and still looked great. One of the things they offer is copper guards that slip right on top of the shutter. Shutters tend to rot from water getting into the seams where the shutter dowels are held. This prevents that from happening. I think this is part of their success. Yes, they are expensive, but they will last for many decades with little if any maintenance required....See Moreexterior design help! 80s update.

Comments (4)For the trim color I like the lighter one better. Seems to work with the brick more. Personally I don't think the green works with your house, but that's just me. I would probably look more towards a taupe on the siding. Regardless, once you've removed the shutters don't reinstall them. They are much too narrow to work with the windows. I would also paint the garage door the same color as the siding. I would not paint the brick. You take a no maintenance product and turn it into a long term maintenance issue. Plus with the right siding and trim color the brick will look fine.
