Should I remove or replace the master bedroom fan?

Should I remove the fan and replace.it with just a light fixture or should I replace it with a new fan/light fixture. If so, any style ideas?

I’d say your climate is the deciding factor. I’m in the south and a fan over the bed is a wonderful thing, but maybe not that exact fan. Maybe something white and low profile to blend into the ceiling?

Is your wall color darker than that of your inspiration room? If so, you will definitely want to lighten up the dark things in the room, such as darker carpet, dark wood, dark walls. Of course you can do that with a rug over the carpet in a lighter shade. Big matching lamps in a lighter color with lighter shades. I love how the insp room has the shades and the curtains. I would also use lighter colored bedding and lighter colored art mixed with darker of course. I like your insp. light! If you keep going back to it then get it! Good luck and keep us posted!!

Having had a washer overflow this summer which required replacing sheetrock, ceiling, and carpeting, I second romy718's advice. They'll bring out a water detection device and check all the walls and floors. You'd be surprised how far water will travel. If there's any remaining at this point, it's considered gray water and they'll need to remove materials. I would also call your insurance company and find out who they recommend make the evaluation.

Yeah, in our old house we dressed in the bedroom, but when we designed this house we on purpose moved that activity from the part of the suite where the bed is. My DH travels a ton for work and often has late or early flights, so we designed our master to keep noise low in the bedroom section. When you open the door to the master suite, you are in a short hall. The dressing room/closet is on your left, then the bath. There is a cased opening directly in front of you that leads into the bed area. Basically, there are no doors in the bedroom part of the suite. People who want to be super close to their toilet or closet might not like it, and it wouldn't work at all if our closet were small, but it is so perfect for us! He can lug his suitcase in, brush his teeth, whatever...and I am not disturbed. Plus, I like not having dressers in the bedroom.

Fans are great and can make a hot room much more pleasant for sleeping and lounging. If your ceiling is low, I'd get a white hugger fan to make the fan as unobtrusive as possible. I installed a Monte Carlo Clarity II which comes in three sizes. It is very quiet. If you get a fan with a light, be sure the light is shaded from the blades, otherwise you'll get shadows from the spinning blades whenever the light and fan are both on. The light of the Clarity II is shaded; here's a photo of a fan whose light isn't.

The fan needs to go, but, its up to you, if you want to replace with a nice one, or a light fixture. Do you use the fan? Would you miss it if it were not there? I use mine for many months out of the year. So, in my case, I would replace it.

@cat_ky We do use the fan for maybe around half the year or less. If it goes then we wouldn't miss it too badly. We have a tower fan too.

A ceiling fan will blow down on you and make you cooler than a tower fan.
