I prefer the first one. However, it IS whiter than the background of your countertop.. Would you be interested in subways with a little more color? Let's see what others say. Nice job on that waterfall, very nice.

Do you know your thread posted more than once? You might want to go back and remove those extras.

Would you consider a marble tile similar to your island? That might work well by providing continuity between the island and backsplash.

Would you be open to a bit of color? It's such a small space and could add some character to the room. If not, I would choose a neutral soft grey subway....the whites you have pictured don't play well with your countertop.

I feel you can do better than those choices you've shown so far.

A little bit of colour would work well. See if you can find a tile that picks up the taupe colour from the veining.

I also like the one that Lyn Nielson showed above ^^.

And consider shapes other than subway. Have a look at Tilebar and order some samples.

Would you be able to get more of your countertop and use that as your backsplash? Or maybe look at a simple white subway tile that would match your countertops and cabinets well.
