need tips for keeping down comforter in place inside duvet cover
Comments (22)The duvet (the comforter part) should be the same size as the cover. I've found that comforters are usually not the same size as proper duvets and don't fit the covers properly. Seems there is little standardization in these products. We bought our first duvets and duvet covers in Europe and no problem with shifting, just gave them a shake in the morning and they were in place. The covers fit perfectly which I'm sure was the reason why they didn't shift. I think clips or buttons would be uncomfortable if you actually used the duvet. If you only use it for decoration turned back no problem. Ties might be more comfortable....See MoreKing versus California King
Comments (16)We have had a Cal King for 20 years. We just bought new bedroom furniture and got a beautiful sleigh bed with dresser and night stands. The store we bought it from ordered the Cal King bed frame from the furniture company. We couldn't be more pleased. Not all manufacturers offer that size though. This isn't the place we got it from (we bought it from a local store), but here is a picture from an online retailer of the bed frame (only this is a queen size) so you can see what it. http://www.beckerfurnitureworld.com/Item.aspx?ItemID=1323391545&ItemNum=I85-404%2b405%2b406 Lane Furniture also makes beds in Cal King. I was glad to learn from reading this thread that King size sheets fit Cal King beds. I'll have to try that. I'm located in Virginia and Cal King sheets are not in stores around here, so I have ordered Cal King sheets and a heated mattress pad online in the past. Fortunately, I don't need to buy sheets very often. Here is a link that might be useful: Aspenhome Chateau De Vin bed...See MoreBuying PB 'Vanessa' duvet cover - which pillows?
Comments (7)I have the Vanessa duvet (queen size) which I have paired with an ivory matalesse coverlet. I also debated what to do for the shams and whether to get the euros or standard sized ones. I first bought the euros and paired that with matalesse standard shams. I don't have a pic of it together with the duvet, but hopefully you can get the idea: As I preferred using the duvet at the base, I wasn't too enamoured with this look, felt too much of the pattern was hidden by ivory shams so eliminated the matalesse shams and exchanged the euros for the standard sized ones like so: I liked this much better, but still felt something was missing so ended up finding some ivory ruffled euroshams and a decorative center pillow which I felt completed the look: Not sure if you can tell, but in the last pic there is no duvet insert, the second one there is. I plan to use the insert seasonally. HTH!...See MoreA king comforter for a queen duvet cover?
Comments (5)I also have a king comforter in a queen duvet cover. My comforter is slightly bigger than the duvet cover, but doesn't cause a problem for me and fits much better than my queen comforter did. However, the best way to tell is to measure your duvet cover and then check the size of the comforter you order or buy. The actual measurements are usually listed along with the "king" or "queen" (at least when ordering online). That way you're not surprised. You'll find that sizes vary greatly--by as much as 8-10" on each side--while still being called "queen"!...See MoreKathy Furt
