December 2018 New Build Thread
Comments (176)dsnine, we've been so busy with the move then we finally made it month ago, I'm primarily working away hence not much at home and try and make the best of it when I am. I took these pics this morning; I'll wait for tile work to complete, then a few cabinets installed around bar and fireplace, before providing further updates. No it is not zero entry on one side, left side is a bench. The shower is 10'4" x 4'2". Two person? It is certainly large enough for a few but no way, be just one person with choice of 2 rain showers plus 2 large hand showers on rails and 4 jets, just about enough for fun showering. What you see in the view is the sea, its a harbor. We are a shade over a mile from the freeway and 16 miles to the airport....See More2021 Thread Heading into Spring!!
Comments (78)Hi Everybody...I thought I'd check in here and see how I do. I did a bit of scrolling...and I'm not bad. Thank you all for the good wishes and wonderful thoughts about me!! I've been doing a lot of posture and neck exercises...they really do help since a lot of my problems seem to stem from the tiny muscles at the base of the skull. I'm also going to make an appointment to see one of my eye specialists. I went for a walk for the first time in who knows how long. My Achilles tendon is still sore...so it was a very slow walk. But, I got out of the house and the day was wonderful!! I can't believe how many of you have had Covid!!!! How horribly scary!!!! I truly hope that your recovery is speedy and full. And, Jim, {{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}} You have been the best cat Dad ever....See MoreFebruary 2021 Building a Home Thread
Comments (529)I understand, Emily. Lots of hard decisions to make, especially when you’re already retired. 17 yrs ago, we were in the same boat. We both were at risk of losing our jobs and decided against spending the extra $30k to prep for future bonus room and extra bath upstairs. We didn’t do it and I’ve always regretted it. Now, our roof tresses etc would need to be totally redone, so it’s off the table. 17 years later, we are building a detached granny flat that will cost us way more than that. I’ll have to go back and read Brandies comments re screws. I missed that one. Best wishes on your build. I will be glad when this is all over and I don’t wake up multiple times per night worrying about the mistakes i might be making, LOL....See MoreWhat are you reading? December 2021 Edition
Comments (115)Readers and AnnieD...posting this before this thread closes down at the end of the month. What would you think of when the January thread is posted (and all subsequent threads each month) of linking the previous month's thread in the new thread? The search function here is so abysmal that sometimes, when I want to look back at a previous month, I cannot find it. If the January thread contains a link to the December thread, that will make it easy to find. Eventually, after several months, we can just link through to previous threads simply by opening the January thread. We can click on the December link (and in the future) could then find the November link in the December thread, then find the October link in the November thread and on and on. Annie, since you usually start the reading threads, it would be another task for you, so don't know how you'd feel about it, but I think it would work best if the previous month was listed in your original post. Anyone else think this would be a good idea and if so, Annie would you mind doing it?...See MoreRelated Professionals
