it will be hard to marry the kitchen floor w the counters w another beige or cream paint shade . And there is enough of those tones anyway...but numerous sample cards brought in might help you realize the goal.....if I were painting the cabs I'd move into a green color...light to medium .... start w sage , which isnt too gray. You dont really want cabinets to "match" counters when the floor isnt the same at all. Maybe describe what you mean by "match" to clarify.....Is this simple fatigue with the brown or is the finish needing redoing? If you start to notice the nuances of color you'll see how the alabaster suggested above doesnt align w the floor at all..and it has enough khaki or yellow , which will make the counters look peachy/apricot....so it gets quite difficult....you're better w a white but I'd shift to a real color as mentionned .

your cabs remind me of this before and after. Try and imagine the after being the same white (instead of this pale blue/green) and you'll get an idea of what you're asking. If you just look at the pic on the right and see the cabs against the white ceiling, it should give you an idea of what white walls would look like Here's alabaster compared to Simply White or cloud white (forget white dove. too dingy) the other two are neutrals that lean a little toward warm. Alabaster can look pretty 'yellowish'. don't know if you'd want that tone next to the countertops If you have any plants on changing countertops, i'd wait on paint color. Look into Pre-fab countertops. for you kitchen you could do the counters for about 1500-1800 using a prefab. they come in quartz, marble, granite, etc. prefabs come looking like this, usually in 6' or 9' lengths. cost is usually 500-600 bucks. you hire a fabricator to come on site to cut them to your kitchen size don't know where you live. Some states these are very easy to obtain, others not so much.

I’m sorry about your mixup. How frustrating to trust a pro and be disappointed like that. You need to get some samples and see how they look with your countertops. Make sure they are large samples on boards you can move around. Samplize makes it easy to order colors and they ship fedex. Or you can get sample pots and paint some scrap wallboard or foam boards. You will want to cover up the cabinets so they don’t interfere with how you perceive the samples. What is your trim painted (baseboards)? Need to work with that, as well as your countertops. How did Steam look with the countertops? If you don’t have a lot of natural light, I would go with a lighter color - pick out the lightest color in the countertop and see how that works with the walls. How close is the fireplace stone? That reads pretty warm to me. If you do the island a different color than the perimeter, I would go with the color of your built ins so you’re not bringing in too many different surface colors. But not sure how it works with the countertop. If it makes you feel better, I can’t tell that it looks bad from the photo. Remember that you also have a backsplash to install. Is it possible to pick something that works with both the countertop and the existing cabinet paint? Just thinking of options. Repainting is probably expensive, but if it’s truly terrible, it’s a good time to do it.

To ”update” something first requires that it be outdated. Your kitchen is classic, not dated. It isn’t 80’s slab melamine with the oak handles. Nor it it the overly decorated heavily glazed and distressed look of the ”Tuscan” era. Wood cabinets are timeless. As are your medium wood floors. That is a really good base for years to come! It does need brightening up with lighting, and lighter counters. The racing stripe backsplash is the only real dated element. The classic look of a plain and simple tile shape will pair perfectly with your timeless maple shaker cabinets. There is no reason to do anything more drastic than those few tweaks!
