Nothing wrong with black and white. You could go with a bright yellow door.

I think you would have a big impact by renovating your landscape. The shrubs are too tall and hiding the windows. I'd get them much lower, below the windows. Maybe remove the ones by the front door and replace with something low growing.

A black door is definitely a strong contender. I’m not sure if I’m brave enough for the yellow! Taking the shrubs down is a great idea- theyre rather thin except at the top and there is a cute porch and railing behind them.

Its the landscaping that will bring a real improvement to your home. What rooms are in the gable wing out front on the right? Is that just a garage? Can't really judge the color of your stone too well. Maybe post a close up?

Thanks decoenthusiaste - I bought the house last year and have been slowly adding plants/trees to the few foundation plants present. I admit ive been hiding behind those shrubs, but they’re not adding anything else to the picture.

Yes, that is just the garage and then there is an upstairs bonus room ontop.

I like the black & white. No offense, but I’m not crazy about the blue door ( from what it looks like on my monitor). Farroe & Ball has some interesting blues, , more muted, subtle Coppice & a few others. Nothing wrong with a rich red on a b & w house, also black doors nice too.

Beautiful house! I love the little footbridge. I agree, trim back the large shrubs that are hiding the house. Some lower, greener plantings would be gorgeous. Boxwood would fill the bill, tie in nicely with the style of home, is slow-growing and low-maintenance. After looking at the closeup of the stone, I’m seeing the front door in a deep, rich plum color. Something like SW Quixotic Plum or even darker. Leave the shutters black though.

Oh and maybe post over on the landscaping forum to get some really great suggestions from folks there.
