Thanks--this came at a good time. I have two nearly-matching creamy colored fabrics laid out to watch in different lights. One seems peachier. Why haven't I realized that it's the same as me saying that as long as I have close reds, that's close enough (something I have long claimed--have matched maroon and other reds willy nilly). Life's too short to quibble, isn't it?

I do think you should be thoroughly satisfied that you can't have wood before giving up or giving in (if wood is your first choice)...But just to throw this in: I looked at the Daltile Concrete Connection tiles when I thought we were doing large format tiles on our counters...Love them. I don't really see how it would limit your counter choices with that color still being a neutral...Just a neutral with more character than blah beige. :-) However, I am one to believe in deciding the 'whole package' before being tied to one choice. Make sure there are counter options you'll like before getting to the 'no turning back' place on the floor.

The floor clashes big time with the stone, and pretty much everything else. The floor is pinky gray with hints of blue. The stone is yellow based with red veining. The cabinets are green, and the walls are orange. If the stone is going to be the centerpiece of the home, what can stay would be the walls. Yellows and oranges play well together. The floors need to go as they don’t play well with any of it. The white for the cabinets also needs to change. It needs to be warmer. The green island possibly can stay as a counterpoint, but not unless the stone coming in has a hint of green in it. And that’s a crapshoot. Overall, it’s New Jersey retirement home BLAH. Even the stone can’t elevate all beige tones. Look at doing the island in something much more complimentary to the stone to bring out its unique tones. As in do a stained cherry that pulls at the veining color. A more natural looking wood tone for the floor will be successful as well.

Thank you for the ideas on moving the prep sink. Although the actual sink is not chosen yet, I do not intend it to be this small or a round sink. It is drawn that way for location purposes only. I am meeting with the electrician this week to determine where lighting will go for the whole renovation so it’s all a little overwhelming. Sophie, for some reason your original comment is just showing up for me. Thank you for your concern however as this kitchen remodel is part of a much larger addition/remodel, the structural changes and cost are already accounted for. Could you please elaborate on your concern for another kitchen designer (we have already worked with one). I am including a photo of the 1st floor plan as this may help with understanding the kitchen layout.
