Harvesting/Winterizing after an early snow in October?
Comments (1)If your peppers didn't die last night, they are going to die tonight. I don't think the fruit is any good once it has frozen. The snow isn't going to hurt your roses. I would be more worried about the predicted 22 degrees tonight. It is awfully early for such a cold night, especially after such a warm September....See MoreWinter Kiss Snowflake Table and Buffet
Comments (12)Thanks everyone for all your sweet comments. Nana, Jeanne didn't send TJ's new outfit she just gave me the knudge to change her outfit.LOL Kath, DD gave me the napkins and a center piece that match. Kathleen gave us a site that shows how to make them if you're interested. We could probably come up with it. I found this site that shows how to make them. I haven't shared a link in a long time so we'll see if it works. http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/elprojects/pdf/PR1522.pdf Candy, I bought the soldier place cards for Memorial, Verterns or Labar Day tables but set them out for this one too. Jane, I received a santa for Christmas that has these same colors and he is beautiful. Didn't think I should use him as the cp so will have to share him at Christmas this year. Karen, Can hardly wait till DGD see's TJ with her shades on. We bought her several pairs of glasses for Christmas at Clairs in the mall. She left 3 pairs here to play with. I bought some other lg trees at great buys that I will share with all of you when I have time. I had never seen these little trees with skirts that matched before so was happy to bring them home. The two lg pinecones are ornaments too. I had a late night at the office and drove home in a ground blizzard. It's been a long time since I've had to deal with this kind of weather. Pretty scary when you don't know where the road is for sure. Thanks again for all the comments. Punk Here is a link that might be useful: Christmas Tree Napkin...See MoreWinter snow ladies
Comments (9)PF, I think allot of people probably come by the discussions side and think nothing there is no activity. I think the gallery was created back when this forum was super busy so the pictures would stay around longer since all the posts eventually drop off. If there is lots of discussions going on, that can happen quickly! I've been thinking allot about this lately and wondering how everyone one here would feel about just posting on the discussions side? I'm thinking maybe we could attract more members if this forum seemed busier. I hope Anj, Belle, Punk and CT will weigh in with their opinion on this. Glad you remembered to come over here--don't forget about the conversation side too. It's always nice to hear what's going on in everyone's lives. ;o) Luvs...See MoreDo Roses like SNOW
Comments (23)I live in the north and get quite a bit of snow. But every spring 98% of my rose canes are black. I have found that we will have a sudden cold snap into winter, so a lot of my roses are not even dormant yet. Then we get snow & wind followed by a sudden thaw for a few days. Then, wham, a cold front that lasts for days with no snow left. Those artic blasts of air seal the fate of the rose canes. Repeat bi-weekly for 4 months until spring. Snow would be great if covered consistently for the whole winter. I do not winter protect. It is survival of the fittest. I plant them deep & that's it. I do have very free draining soil on the majority of my beds, so I think that helps a bit....See Moreflowersaremusic z5 Eastern WA
