By "stainless steel" pots are you referring to specular aluminum reflectors in recessed light fixtures? By "white ones" do you mean the low budget plain metal recessed fixtures (non-reflector type) or white grooved baffles? I don't know, maybe some manufacturer makes a stainless steel reflector for corrosive environments. It might be better to use the manufacturer and model number.

She should have focused task lighting at the desk anyway, no matter what you decide for overall room lighting. That way she can have localized bright light for reading and writing while not having the entire room lit up like an operating room (which wastes electricity as well as just being aesthetically unpleasant). If she uses a computer at this desk, glare on the screen from overhead lighting can cause painful eye strain and headaches. Attractive adjustable desk lamps can be very inexpensive or cost a mint depending on what you get and where - if the desk is small and you don't want to waste space on a lamp, a swing-arm lamp mounted on the wall is an excellent solution. Many of that style are corded so you don't have to worry about fishing wires around in the walls. Lamps that take a three-way bulb are particularly good for task lighting.

It is all depends on your location. There is a state that does NOT permit in any way use of LED fixtures that can use Edison "screw base" light bulbs.... Not sure if it starts from A, B, or C. The normal issue with the flat LEDs that some flicker. So I would get one and test it. See if you like the color, Another issue if you got sucked into buying specialty flat LED a vendor decided to stop selling them or redesign the trim, it may be hard to find a matching one or change 100-130 others when a light burned out... I absolutely despise when one of my 2700k light appears a different color from others, or dims differently.

Hi! We are currently building a home and we have 2 small bedrooms and a den that need lighting and I have no idea if it’s a smart move to go for a single flush mount light or if we should do pot lights instead. Current situation: we live in a one bedroom home and our bedroom is around 110sq ft. We have 4 dimmable pot lights. We have never used lamps or any other source of lighting. We also have no flush mount lights in this home - all pot lights. I ask which is better because I have no “experience” with flush mount lights and since the rooms are so small, maybe it would be enough? The bedrooms are ideally for me and my husband, and two kids below 8 years old. If you look at our layout, we only have a few windows for the room.
