Do you have a separate Dining Room (this is where it would help if we saw the layout of the entire floor - both here and on Kitchens - not just the addition, the entire floor). I'm asking b/c if you do, you might consider making the table space a banquette and taking more space for the Powder Room. (Bench along the Powder Room and, possibly, "top" walls) Regarding the laundry - I'll be honest, I would not want my laundry anywhere where guests could see it - and putting it in the Powder Room means guests will definitely see it! It might help to build an enclosure around it - it would at least hide the washer & dryer, but it wouldn't help with any laundry sitting in the room - clean or dirty. Note that expanding the Powder Room may mean going with the narrower window (8'+ vs 10').

This is purely theoretical, but it comes to a point where one has to think about how much undifferentiated space you want your house to have. Open circulation is great, dead end rooms can be problematic. But everything open to itself has it's own problems. I see houses that are so open that the only thing defining any areas at all are furniture, and it looks more like a furniture store than a house. It's difficult to place and "anchor" furniture if there are no walls. Then there is the problem that if one person is watching TV, the entire first floor of the house is watching TV. Rather than promoting togetherness, I think completely open plans can compel people to hole up in their bedrooms. A set of columns doesn't do any thing for noise control but it does, to some degree differentiate space. This house seems large enough that the dining table still won't be "in the entry" but I've seen houses where it seems like everyone is clustered around the front door. Florida also does not need any sort of air lock. Where I live we have cold winters and the houses, which are small were all built with vestibules that are literally 4 feet square with a front door and an interior door. It's a tight squeeze sometimes. It can be "claustrophobic". But you aren't meant to spend any time there, it's meant to separate the interior from the weather and from the street (these houses are on the sidewalk and the actual street may be 3-4 feet from the front door). People take these out, and then they realize that 1) they get a blast of cold air or rain in the house whenever the front door is opened, 2) people are walking by a few feet away and can see all the way through your house and 3) if there was at least a partial wall there you could have the back of a chair or a piece of furniture less than a foot from the door, but if there's no wall there, nobody wants to sit with their back inches from the open front door. Sometimes separate is absolutely necessary. Sometimes, even if it's mostly symbolic, it's still a good thing.

Thank you all for the suggestions! At this time we cannot move or replace the carport, and currently use every space for parking as shown on the blacktop driveway. That itself isn't the best curb appeal, but we only have a steep decrease gravel drive in the rear of the house that many cars are not able to pull into or out of. The dead tree needs to go, I agree! The whole front needs a good powerwash and at least new trim paint. Show we stay white or go another color? We would like to paint the carport areas that are dark green to match exterior trim. A pergola refinish on the carport may help too. As for the door, I will take your suggestions and just add a workshop sign. I think it's OK to have the half bath tiled and the foyer wood. If, however, you're thinking about two different types of wood, two different types of tile or wood next to LVP, then no.
