What is the humidity level in the home? Pictures? What type windows (casements, double hung, etc.)? What type siding? Looking to change interior trim / drywall surround?

Replacement windows invariably cut down on the glass area available in the window and don't provide any opportunity to upgrade the air sealing and insulation around the original. It's slightly more work to install a "new construction" window, with having to remove some siding on the outside and perhaps ddo some wall repair on the inside, but you will end up with a window that is probably much better flashed, sealed and insulated (standards have gone up!), and will likely have more and better choices of windows to install.

I find it well woroth the extra work.

@millworkman Currently have double hung wood windows. Humidity 55% at the moment. Plan to update interior trim, no drywall work.. Exterior is clapboard, not planning changes there.

This was the worst by far. Hasn't come back since cleaning but moisture still accumulating.

Newpro make a very good window, its a composite and has some of the best performance ratings in the industry.. Dont listen to ksc36, he is a clueless clown.

^Spoken like a washed up window salesman. Here in NE they have a terrible reputation, including their sales tactics and bloated price. Not sure about the quality today as the only ones I've dealt with ended up in the dumpster.

i dont believe you, I think you are full of it.

I think your humidity is too high and if you have hydronic hot water radiators for heat not enough air circulation. Wash your windows and the wood immediately around the glass with a tri sodium phosphate solution, a half cup or so in a half bucket of hot water, buy the tsp powder at a paint or hardware store, squeegee the glass and wipe the wood dry with a towel, the slight remaining tsp prevents mildew, mold growth. Tsp is the active ingredient in some commercially available mold killer/inhibitors. Wear rubber gloves to prevent skin irritation. t is great to remove grease, dirt, mildew prior to repainting kitchen and bathroom walls. I would think this might save you the expense of replacing windows and if your humidity level is not reduced you might still have condensation on the window glass.

I have replaced windows a few times where the condensation got worse. Making the envelope tighter with addressi g cause can do this.
