*Lucy0214, I would love to see pics of your windows, please!
Comments (6)Lucy0214 - I am tickled pink that someone is building the Vida de la Confianza! That is our plan too! BUT, we had an architect change a lot of things, so it's not exactly the same as the stock plan anymore. Do you have a build blog? I would love to see more pics of your house. I know I've searched all over the internet, but never found ONE real life picture of it (until I saw yours)! They just set our basement walls on Monday, so we should be rolling along soon with everything else. I'm excited to share some photos on this blog as things progress :) Are you putting railings on the front porch? ~Stephanie...See MoreLove your showerhead? Please share!
Comments (5)We have the speakman anystream 6 jet showerhead currently and am planning to put the 8 jet in the new shower. Our water pressure isn't stellar but you get a really nice shower out of this one, and if you get the slightly higher priced one than what they sell at HD, they look pretty nice too. We did not pull the flow control washer out when we installed it either as many have suggested you do for a REALLY hard shower. I'm linking the one we have but we paid about $50 for it. They also make it in a bunch of other finishes so you should be able to coordinate with almost anything in your bathroom. Restoration Hardware sells these showerheads with their shower sets for a lot more. Comments (5)Christie, I have one of the older models of the Gagg combi-steam that I bought for about $2500 US as a showroom sample in the summer of 2008. (That was a lot of money on our budget!) It stayed in the showroom for six months, then in the garage for another six months until we were ready to install in the kitchen reno. I was pretty intimidated by it at first so procrastinated on actually using it, happy just to admire how pretty it looked! I finally got brave a few weeks ago, dug out that little paper wheel cooking guide from my box of appliance manuals, took a wild guess as to the settings, and cooked brown rice in it. WOW! Great texture and no boilover gunk on the stove! Then a few days later reheated half a quiche that had been sitting in my fridge for a few days. AMAZING! Crust was crisp, filling piping hot and still moist, like I had just baked it (maybe better!) I have also reheated dinner plates full of various leftovers, and each item comes out great with no stirring. Now, every time I think about popping something in my microwave, I consider the steam oven. I am not a gourmet cook but this unit is really interesting and inspires me to experiment. The neatest thing for me is my husband's enthusiasm about this unit. He actually has very little sense of taste and substantially reduced saliva due to radiation treatments 3 years ago. His enjoyment of food is based mostly on its texture and whether it "goes down easy." He has complimented me on every item I have prepared using the combi-steam and that made it worth every penny! Have fun deciding!...See MorePlease share that "neato" feature you love in your kitchen!
Comments (26)So far (cause I'm not finished yet) I really love my tapmasters! Within two days it was like I'd always had them. They turn on water with verylittle pressure. The constant on feature was a little stiff at first, but I just sat on the floor turning it on and off for a little while and now that feature works easily. I alsolove my Karbon laminar flow faucets-so much quieter! I used to have to turn up the TV to hear it when washing dishes, I dont have to anymore! It is really strange how much I love not having to turn on and off a faucet. I feel like I've gained an extra hand in the kitchen! While I love the look of my new marbleish countertops, I have only ever had laminate, so these are very cold, and hard, and louder. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I am afraid I'm going to break every dish I set on it right now. I also like having my pullout trash in my prep area, (not undersink near DW). I can scrape scraps into a compost bowl I set on top of trash during prep time, and can sweep crumbs straight into trash whenever. I also like having trash away from DW and sink, avoids the bottleneck at the DW after meals. Kids can be at trash scrapingplates then go to DW to load. (I suppose if I did it all, same spot would work, but my kids didnt get that lucky, they have to pitch in) I don't get wanting trashcan at main sink, to me it just adds another task in an already busy area....See MoreSueb20
