Can we have the measurement of the wall with the windows, from the edge of the fireplace to the edge of the alcove to the front door?

We are a family of five. Kids range in age currently from 7 to 1.5. We would like to accommodate two additional guests, at least. The main purpose of the room is an everyday family room. We have a large rec room in our finished basement, and we also have a formal living room, so this room falls between those two - we want it to be comfortable but also look nice since it’s in the main area of our house.

A 3-seat sofa and two upholstered armchairs would be ideal and flexible. Would do TV under the trio of windows sofa facing it and chairs on either side of the sofa and a coffee table.

Perhaps a drop leaf table behind the sofa could serve the casual dining area and be expanded for larger groups to dine.

Thank you deco! We have a table in the eat in portion of the kitchen, right next to this area. But I love the idea of a console table there! There seems to be a consensus that we should have the TV on the wall with the transom windows based on conversations I’ve had so far…

We have put together the 3D rendition with the items (for the most part) that you were thinking of buying: "thinking of getting either two couches and two chairs or a sectional and two chairs. An upholstered ottoman, a media cabinet, and possibly a console table as well."

My sister's house has this layout. They put the tv under the windows with a couch directly across and a loveseat on the wall. I wouldn't do a sectional as you'd either block your path into the room or block your windows.
You could also do chairs a deco suggested.

Wow!! You guys are amazing!! I absolutely love the last few layouts with the single chair by the window, the sofa backing up the kitchen and love seat on the solid wall. I think that’s an excellent option!

I like the designs with the single chair by the fireplace. Could even be a swivel or swivel/recliner. You could even add stacked seat cushions (or an ottoman) on one side of the hearth for the kids to pull out and watch TV from the floor. A basket of blankets on the other side. Congrats on your new space.
