have an expensive 59" cabinet i love and want a 65" to hang on wall

tv is 58" wide sans frame. can i make this work? afraid to make another design mistake so i am asking first. do i have to go smaller? thanks for your help

Not a pro but in my opinion this would not work. I believe cabinet under TV should be at least 25 percent wider (don't quote me on that number).

Cabinet should be wider than tv (remember TVs are measured on the diagonal). Photos will get you more help.

What a great post! Everything from sheer beauty to the funniest of photos. I love Jeri's calm and peaceful cemetery. Joe's photos are exceptional. I can get lost in the fourth one of water reflections. Florence, your water colours are charming. How lucky you are to have such a talent. Sherry, One thing I have seen occasionally here in Crete that looks good in people's porches or covered terraces. They put up a few shelves on the wall, and then put a frame all round them. On the shelves they place small pots of succulents and other small plants. It becomes a picture of real plants, they look very charming. We looked at most of the ones you mention. Our favourite was the Thermador, but the mind-blowingly stupid analog clock (you have to wind forward slowly through 23 hours 59 minutes to set it back 1 minute) and the price were deal-breakers for us. We found the menu system on the Miele cumbersome, and ISTR that it wouldn't do a couple of things we wanted. The rolling racks on the Capital only come out about half way. In the end, we gave up on the idea of a rotisserie. :(

For 7 years now we have had this set up. All our copper skillets/saute pans hang on the Lee Valley Rack on the wall along with our utensils. My oldest son and his wife are professional chefs and I worked in one of their restaurants as the dishwasher for 5 years. After that experience when I re-did my kitchen I wanted everything at hand. I love it ! Wouldn't change a thing and the 1500 cfm hood insures that we don't have "stuff" all over the pots or the open shelves. Also everything gets used all the time as we cook a lot. another pic and you can see part of the open shelves that are to the right and over the sink area. All our daily used serving dishes and glasses and plates are on these shelves. They get wiped down to get clean the dust about 2x a year. That is all they need. in this pic you can see the open sliders down at the bottom that hold more pots and the iron skillets and lids. better view and shows the cab at bottom right with the rest of the pots . All in all everything can be reached with no steps or one step. Extremely efficient and as I said has worked great for 7 years. Hope this helps. We do have a LONG haired cat that weighs 20#...still not a problem. c this shot of the open shelves was early on in remodel ..has changed as far as content but otherwise the same.

My electrician (aka hubby) finally got my second pendant hung over the island today!! You may or may not remember when I posted this pic back in September or October Right after I built and installed my temp island. The area looked, quite frankly, somewhat ridiculous. An 8 ft long island with this one lone pendant hanging over one end of it. The reason it was there was because that was an existing box that used to have a fluorescent light box on it. I knew I wanted to put in another box ran off of the first one and install 2 pendants, well, today it finally got done!! Yay!! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but there is soooo much more light over my island now! Can I just mention again how much I love the smoke colored glass in these pendants? Also, in keeping with our weekly thread "no accomplishment is too small", I tracked down some spare 2x6 and cut blocks to fit in the old window spot. I also got the piece of drywall cut to install. The only reason I haven't yet is because I am thinking of creating a "time capsule" to put in the wall before I close it off. Chances are that spot will be opened again at some point in the future, it is where the MIL quarters and main house meet. Even if I never open it back up, I thought it would be cool to leave a "treasure" there for someone to discover in the future. Tell me truthfully, does that sound really lame or kinda cool?

Really post pics if you wan thelp . right now I would say no but I have context.I find usually buffet type cabinets are not a good choice for TVs since the TV is too high for proper viewing . You need a cabinet that is larger than the TV and low enough to put the middle of the screen at eye level when you are seated

I have heard that rule too about the cabinet being 25 % wider than tv and I agree that it works.

However, there have been some that have posted pix of tv the same length as cabinet and it's looked fine. Defnitely post a pic even if it's just of the cabinet and the wall.

As I recall, sometimes people also added a thing to give a bit more to the bottom; by "thing" I mean a plant, a shelf, a lamp, something.

thank you you kind people. i will definitely have to buy the smaller tv -65'' on diagonal (thank you hallett) is 55" so will not allow for the 25% difference you have offered as a good guide. i will post picture of wall with the buffet which will go under tv. Patricia Colwell you " saw my apartment: before pictures. wish i could do otherwise it is a very small apartment (1000 sq ft) and no other spot for it. i have 2 dining chairs on either side as the only space for them. alas.
