Plank tile mistake
Comments (18)" You will have hard time making tile really look "random" . It won't look like wood either in the end. " I'm sorry, but I couldn't disagree with this more. These pics are of a floor we did last fall. Even standing in the room, you have to touch the floor to know it's not real wood. And although there are a couple of places in the floor where the courses of tile "step", for the most part, it's completely random. You'll also see hardwood "step" from time to time, as well....See Moremade a tile mistake, help
Comments (33)Your new gray floor tile will make the whole room look like concrete. I think it's too similar in tone to the shower tile. The wood look tile you currently have on the floor is fine. You just need to rethink your other choices. What you have will work with a dark stained cabinet or a white/light gray painted cabinet with a white quartz top. Decide on paint when it's all done. OR, if you want to use the wallpaper, find a small scale white floor tile, and use a dark blue or white painted cabinet with a white countertop. You have to decide which items are more important to you - the wallpaper? the floor? the marble countertop? Know your priority and then work backward to find the parts that fit with the one or two items you want....See Moreis white mosaic tile for shower floor a mistake or a regret?
Comments (15)Thanks for the article - just read it - very helpful tips! Considering the "cons" - the yellowing...If I don't have any sunlight (no windows) in any of the bathrooms. If it says yellows over time exposed to sunlight, guessing it's the UV, do you think it would yellow over time if there are no windows in the bathrooms, just from regular blubs? the appropriate surface...says not good for natural stones, works best with porcelain/ceramic. i'm all okay there in one bathroom. in another bathroom I'm using glass tile...it doesn't mention glass...i would guess this is okay b/c it's not a stone? what do you think? (noted to install it it may cost more than regular grout, and would need someone experienced, but can deal with that) I did quick google and looks like it also comes in colors. I also saw these other posts too, pasting them here in case someone reads this thread and finds these useful: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2699825/white-grout-that-stays-white https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2463266/is-epoxy-grout-worth-it https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2287705/has-your-white-epoxy-grout-turned-yellow...See MoreTile mistake or structure?
Comments (23)I don't get how a strip of wood is an easy fix for an unlevel ceiling. Either you have to scribe the tiles to the uneven ceiling, or scribe the wood to the uneven ceiling, or put the wood it as-is and scribe the tile to the wood trim. I can't tell from the photo which they did. I would have tiled all the way to the ceiling, then caulked the tile/ceiling joint with white silicone. That said, now that I look more closely, I'm guessing that a full tile instead of the wood would have left slivers of tile against the ceiling. They didn't plan properly from bottom to top when they were figuring the layout, so when they got up high, they realized the last row would be slivers. So they put the wood in in lieu of tile slivers. That's my hypothesis....See MoreLora P
