Comments (6)I think you received your answer in your previous post. In our world, this is called a tile fail. It was not installed properly as the sheets have to be staggered and occasionally cut to interlock so the grid lines are not visible. If this is only on the bath wall, and not in the shower, you can disregard the comments by others in your previous post regarding waterproofing. It sounds like your contractor is willing to re-do it and that is the correct approach. What you need is assurance that it will be installed correctly (by someone who knows what they are doing) the next time, and it shouldn't be on "your dime" as the first install was not done professionally. It should look like this. Best of luck....See MoreHelp with tile/design for master bath remodel
Comments (10)If you like gray, use the technical aspects of the above tile layouts as a blueprint, and use a light gray tile with a black liner and cap for the details. Maybe find a chiclet or hex floor in grays with a bit of green, or all green. Green with gray can be tricky though. I’m not feeling the encaustic tile look at all. It’s much too trendy for a Victorian. Especially how you show it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Merola-Tile-Metro-Hex-Matte-Light-Green-10-1-4-in-x-11-3-4-in-x-5-mm-Porcelain-Mosaic-Tile-8-56-sq-ft-case-FXLM1HMG/203784114 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Merola-Tile-Hudson-Penny-Round-Mint-Green-12-in-x-12-5-8-in-x-5-mm-Porcelain-Mosaic-Tile-FKOMPR32/300133743 Something faux encaustic in a more classic, simple shape, for the floor would work better than as an accent wall in the shower. I realize that his is real encaustic, but there are porcelain lookalikes. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Villa-Lagoon-Tile-Spark-C-May-8-in-x-9-in-Cement-Handmade-Floor-and-Wall-Tile-SB20RH16-SPAR3-S2-PS/306640859...See MoreIs Blue Subway tile good for Bath Wall tile
Comments (14)There's nothing wrong with using subway tile in a shower. It's been fine for a hundred years or so. ;) Make sure your contractor uses a high-quality epoxy grout and clean it occasionally. Also think about your grout color choice. Pure white will be more subject to discoloration over time, even if it's epoxy, but anything with a little color will hide most indiscretions in cleaning or upkeep. That said, the blue is a bold choice, and it sounds like you want something more neutral. You can definitely pull in accents via artwork, towels/rugs and other accessories, and change them out as you wish. Then when you leave the space, the next owner is left with a blank slate....See MoreStriddy Huene
