Need help with ID on this plant and where the seeds come from?
Comments (2)Yes, That is a Datura...I'm amazed you mananged to keep it in that pot! Are those the first blooms or have you been deadheading? If you've been deadheading you will not get your pods...the pods form after the flowers fade and fall naturally. Loretta, my best Datura was the plant that got no attention from me. It was planted pretty much on a gravel road right outside my beds and neglected over the hot and dry summer. Those recieving more water, did not do as well. When it first started blooming.... The plant grew to spread over almost 5' at 3' tall and held about 15-20 blooms per evening/morning. I deadheaded at first and stopped mid August. Seed-pods were harvest last weekend. Comments (5)I wouldn't give up on them, but I would really doubt that they made it. I never had luck with purchased rhizomes even when bought when they were first put on the shelves. The ones I bought were not completely dry. Still, my Siberians have only shown up in the last few days & it is probably warmer here....See MoreTiffany, purpleinopp Z8b Opp, AL
