Best Patterned Daylilies of 2021
Post your finest patterned daylilies on this thread. Patterned lilies are those that show variations in hue, value or saturation of the base, midrib, or throat color, in such a way that a design is created beyond that of a bold or solid eye, band, halo or watermark, with or without simple picotee edging. The next category on Friday will be polychromes.
Bowtie Affair is probably my most ornate patterened daylily. It has been slow to increase here.
Stenciled Infusion is my favorite patterned cultivar. It has increased rapidly and reblooms some years here.
Core Values is a good multiplier. It's registered as a rebloomer, but it seldom reblooms here.
Nile Princess had a slow start but really took off this year, having bud counts in the high teens and rebloom on most scapes.
My Heart Belongs to Daddy has a very different sort of pattern. It has not performed well where I have it planted. It either needs a new place, or more grub killer.
Royal Cypher doesn't usually look this blue, but it did in this season's cooler temps. It is a vigorous grower and multiplier.
Tides Roll In is a vigorous grower and a reliable rebloomer.
Applique always puts on a good show in the early season. It reblooms some years, but not this one.

I have debated before on getting Reckless Girls but always talk myself out of it, but what a clump! Bluegrass Shadows looks so pretty, but I think I heard it does not grow that well? Love your Laura Harwood, Sherry. Mine did well this year, 2nd year I think for me. Nancy, Absolute Ripper is another I keep talking myself out of, but regretting that now. Man Eating Bat looks great Kate, I have always liked the look of Larry's Obsession, but it died for me and I have not tried it again. I got Love Struck this fall, hope mine survives. Garden Butterfly is gorgeous Celeste, Thunder Glow was on my wish list, but you are not the only one who mentioned splotches, so it quickly came off. Love Olly Olly Oxen free and Claudine's Charm. Claudine died last year, I may replace that on. I think a big mole dug under it. Brad, Kirsten's Corsage always looks good for you, and I like Liberty Banner David, Mystery of the Ages is gorgeous I will see if Houzz will let me post a few pictures by editing Back Scratcher has done well for me Blue Voodoo has done really well, expecially since it is really crowded by another plant. I know I took better pictures than this one Enduring Freedom always does well, occasionally it splotches but not often since I moved it Coach's Magic Man has increased well in its 2nd season, bloomed and rebloomed both years I have had it. This will b e nice when it becomes a nice clump Filled to Overflowing almost died a couple of years ago, went down to 1 fan, but is a nice clump this year and bloomed over 6 weeks Westbourne Chip off the Old Block is as great as Kay promised, bloomed for almost 2 months with rebloom Green Rainbow Kierabel is a lighter purple with deeper purple in it, so I may have it in the wrong category. Comments (27)I don't pay much attention to yellows - except that I notice how great they look with purples. The ones that do captivate me have either an amazing shape or a great edge. Those that captivated me on this thread include: Amazing Shapes: Simplicity in Motion, Desert Icicle, Olfactory Evidence and Living in Amsterdam. I had Coral Majority but it did not survive the Arctic Freeze this February. South Seas is one of my old favorites and it did survive. 2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoI'm trying again on the ones that didn't show up on my earlier post. These are all Petits. His plants perform well in my climate.
Ocean Wild - I've had it for two seasons but this was the first for it to bloom. It multiplied well this year.
Mystical Intuition is a good multiplier and reblooms well.
Infinity & Beyond is another Petit that does well here.
Cobalt Rings multiplies rapidly and would rebloom if it got enough sun later in the season.
Mystic Butterfly had its best season so far with taller scapes than before and bud counts in the high teens.
Gilded Butterfly is a short beauty. It's started to multiply well after two years of getting grub killer.
Faberge Easter doesn't have a lot of buds here, but I love the face.

2 years agoDebra and David, you both have some lovely patterns. I really like Faberge Easter, Infinity and Beyond, Core Values and Bowtie Affair.
Debra, My Heart Belongs to Daddy did not do well for us so it left the garden.
We don't have many patterned ones and I didn't get photos of the ones we have this season except for Time in a Bottle.
We did have several patterned seedlings bloom this year so I will show a few of them.

Nan - Your Curious Cutie seedlings are beautiful!
I have a lot more patterned daylilies. I'll show a few more, and some of my patterned seedlings.
Rainbow Maker is a strong grower and a good rebloomer.
Facemaker didn't do much this year, but I it didn't get in the ground until late October. I hope it will have more buds next year when it's more settled.
Bragging Rights has a very large bloom, but the scapes were short and it didn't have many buds. I hope it will do better when I get it out of a pot and in to the ground.
This is my favorite seedling from the cross of Aztec Headdress x Banded Broadbill. It has a 7-inch bloom and rebloomed this time.
Another patterned seedling I like is Dragonfly Dawn x Bowtie Affair. This was its first year to bloom, and it had bud counts in the mid teens and rebloomed.
This one is (Redefined Design x Blue Eyed Bandit) x (Palace Garden Beauty x Karelia) - First-time bloomer that also rebloomed.
Texas Blue Eyes x Violet Tranquility - This one is a four-year-old with bud counts in the 20s, but it's a slow multiplier.

Debra, I like your Texas Blue Eyes seedling.
Blue Beetle has just done ok here, maybe this season will be its leap year. I am hoping to see this one double at least once.
Cat Dancer is a decent performer.
Destined to See, one of my favorites, a good performer.
Get R Done, I love this big bloom.
Mage Quest, my only applique pattern has done well.
Free Wheelin was new here this season, i really like these huge blooms.
Purple Maze had its second season here, did well.
quazar Cutie had its second season here. the bloom is smaller, tha scapes are fairly tall so it doesnt get lost in the garden.
I wasnt sure which category to put Silky Skies in, I think it fits here. This is the only Lambertson that likes my garden, so far.
Strength and Beauty had first blooms this season.
Stone Palace Divine has a bit of a pattern.
