I have a vessel sink bathroom with orb faucet, antique chrome tp holder, chrome trim on the toilet, and then an old toilet tank with verdigris and brass. So maybe I am not the person to ask! I think if you are going at all rustic, and the rest of the palette is muted, mixing is fine. You need to be more careful in a modern space or a very formal space or with "near misses", ie things that look like you tried to match but failed.

Those photos help a lot, rookie_2010! the dark counters seem to go well with the light fixtures (in my unprofessional opinion) even though the pulls don't match. what is the finish on your faucet? beekeeperswife - would dark counters help to make things "go" as far as the pendants? do you have an opinion on the photos rookie_2010 posted? marjoriest - i think the pendants and ceiling fan probably would look better if they match since you look up to see them both...but they don't have to match the cabinet hardware. but hopefully someone with more design sense than me can give you a better answer.

amber- I know I could wait to decide on all 3 light fixtures, but I really want to coordinate them now or it could end up being 10 years before I do anything. We are changing furniture, painting and remodeling, so I want to strike now while I'm doing everything or I will never do it. Here are 3 lights I like. Do they work well together? Which should go where? I'm thinking starburst in DR, spiral one entryway and the other one on stairs. Door hardware is orb but being changed to matte black. Kitchen will be white/black/gray with stainless and chrome. Kitchen is not open to DR but the light can be seen from the glass door that separates them. If any of these fixtures look terrible together, please be honest.

You an do the carmack one in the entry. I was pushing for it in the kitchen nook because I really wanted to see something with some height. Which I think you can still achieve. But if your uncomfortable with that and prefer flush mount totally do the carmack one in the entry way. I think you will need three pendants on the island. Doesn’t the set come with three anyways? Also, you can try it out in the space and see, maybe use one of the three in another area... but again, 10ft island usually go with three pendants especially if it’s narrow...
