Patio on Metal Roof - ideas for not penetrating the metal roof?

I have the slightest slope allowed by code on my single-slope metal, standing-seam roof. I'm kicking around ideas for putting a small, 2-person perch/patio up there to take advantage of the fall/winter mountain views. The house is only 2 years old (new construction) - and I'm hesitatant to put holes into the new metal roof if I don't have to. This may be crazy...but might there by any magnetic solutions? I'm feeling like there might be some large, strong magents with some sort of fastners on them that could be rigged to make up a wooden flooring sturucture of some kind. Is this a thing? And/or hsould I really not be worried about placing some holes into my roof? Thanks!!

There is no way to put a perch/patio on top of a metal roof. And you should absolutely be hesitant to put holes in your roof. I see nothing good coming from your thoughts without the roof structure being redesigned and rebuilt to have roof deck.

Good to think "creatively" with using magnets, but it is not an option. Depending on your house layout and framing, there would be an actual structure of wood or metal that is attached to the walls, columns, or grade below, going through or around the roof. Other means like cantilevering or hanging exists, but probably not in this case.

Metal roofing is similar to tile roofs where you are highly dependent on the underlayments to keep the sheathing dry. It's not from physical water such as rains, but from moisture that can build up. The underlayments act as a drainage plane where the water runs down and out at the leading edge of the roofing. Tile has a weep screed flashing at the front edge while the metal roofing is dependent for run off through the seam channels. You need to insist that the underlayments damaged are replaced or properly repaired.

My brother got the shingle style metal roof. Supposed to resemble shakes. They do have more texture than a standing sea roof has and the shakes seem to accumulate debris, leafs and such. The standing seam wouldn't have that problem. Since the standing seam are larger sheets and less areas where things could go wrong I would have to think less worries about any failure areas. They are totally different looks.

So my best option is just to wear approprite metal roof shoes (the construction ones with the magnets) - and just go up there and sit down on the metal roof itself to enjoy the view? We're talking pretty epic views that I really want to be able to enjoy. We kciked some ideas around during construction - and we were already at our budget limit - so had to let the idea go. Now i'm regretting it and trying to find some sosrt of workaround. Thanks all!

I'm sure there is a solution, but there is no information - pictures, plans, etc - presented here. Probably would be something similar to what you had kicked around during construction. But there is certainly no way to "stick" or "rest" a structure on a metal roof - think of it as the curtains over your window, you don't want to hang your furniture from the curtains.

If the views are that epic have it redone with a door, handrails, and a proper surface to be walked on- there are several solutions, walking on a metal roof is not one of them
