I live on this forum but don't post often. I want to thank TurquoiseRose for sharing her hunt for the perfect console to put in her hallway/ foyer. I've been searching for years for a similar piece to fill a blank space in our family room, restricted by a French door that opens against the wall so not much depth possible. Well, I managed to build an entryway table this weekend...so there's no going back now - no more couch on the wall! Oh and those unsightly sidelight curtains found their final resting place in the trash too. Whoever came up with these window films is genius! Thinking maybe chalk painting the table, sanding a few edges to expose the wood and some storage baskets below for blankets and such.

Everyone's taste is different, but I like slate.

Looking for suggestions on how to tile or floor the landing area. No floors in the house right now so I can play around with ideas like tile or a different flooring pattern in the entryway to help separate the space from the rest of the open concept. Just flooring like the rest of the house will have going the long way down the house will be fine also but just seeing if people here have any ideas.
