Couple of things: It's a good idea to fasten cabinets together that will be side by side. Use trim head screws through the edge of the cabined face frame. Consider the depth of the cabinet back and back rail + wall thickness. Depending on the width of the cabinet, and it's position relative to the wall studs it may be difficult to 'hit' two studs per cabinet. This is another reason to screw the cabinets together. So they are better able to support the other. I use screws on the top and bottom back rails. Using a really long screw you are taking a chance that you may dammage an electrical wire in the wall.

If you will notice, some of these comments are as far back as 2005, so I would not ditch what was suggested to you at the store just because some people like other products. Maybe this is the new kid on the block, and very good. I don't think in a case like this there is one "best" product. Like someone said, sometimes it depends on your individual surface, and also prep work is very. very important. Also, there are tools involved. If you are using a brush to apply, what is the best size, type, bristle material, etc... Some people will tell you that you will not get a good result doing it yourself, and to hire a professional. Experience is 20/20.

CLC, I did mine about a year ago with instructions I found on DIY (I think). First I took off the doors and the hardware and washed everything down with TPC (I think that's the right name). You can find it in the paint dept. in a little carton like milk comes in. You mix it up in warm water. It's supposed to clean off all dirt, grease, etc. It did a great job! Next I sanded all surfaces with a fine sandpaper then cleaned with a tack cloth. Then I painted one coat, sanded and tack clothed (?) when it was dry, and painted a second coat. I used interior enamel in a gloss finish. So far they still look pretty good, but I suspect I should have used some kind of oil-based paint since I'm pretty sure the original finish was oil-based. And I should have used high gloss because I wanted much more shine than I got. We didn't take the cabinets out. I painted the doors and drawers out in the garage, but painted the bases where they were. It was a really big job! I took 5 days off work and it ended up taking all that time and several more weekends to get it all done. And most of the doors don't want to close all the way after having the hardware removed and reinstalled. But they sure look better than the old, tired, out of date pickled oak finish! Donna

I would want what I need for storage out there . I find no matter how great the cabinets are dust gets in there somehow so I use drawers for outdoor dishes and drink ware and usually put all of that in my basement store room in the winter. I have outdoor vinyl placemats in a drawer too and I have a hanging rack above my grill for utensils I use for grilling .I use the cabinet under the grill for the cover and one to the side for the propane and the other side for the cleaning brush , gloves etc. My husband also does BBQ so he has one 24” wide drawer cabinet for his stuff.
