Buffet/Sideboard suggestion

Hello Design Pros,
I'm looking to add a buffet/sideboard to this room directly under the window. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Also, we are thinking of buying new dining chairs as well. Any suggestions?

Comments (19)swizzy and nancy, thanks for your input, too. swizzy - I don't think there's enough room for a china cabinet on the brick corner, but I had similar thoughts, perhaps a drum table or something or a small corner cabinet. nancy, I like your sideboard a lot. If I could find a smaller corner cabinet like that in a painted/distressed color, I think it would look nice in the brick corner. Definitely like the idea of plant stands, too. Add some ferns or ivy....lots to consider. Thank you all. re: the skinny mirrors. I was so excited when I found them, marked 50% off at Hobby Lobby. I had seen them elsewhere for much more. Comments (9)I dont know what you have access to, but I would strongly suggest a visit to your local antique stores/malls. We have so many great pieces of furniture like this in our mall (I have a few booths in it) that could easily be used as a buffet or Sideboard for sale in ours that you could easily find one of superior construction(as in solid wood, vintage, not cheapo throw away materials)probably for a lot less then you'd expect to spend. Comments (1)so you don't have to do grey tones. in the dining table picture there are warmer wood tones. if you did something closer to those tone, it would add more interest. Comments (4)With the darker floor, you may want to warm up everything in the dining room. You might start by staining the chair legs a warmer color. Change the cool gray rug to one in warmer tones like your wall color. We can't see the sideboard/bar cart you referenced. I would try to fit 6 chairs around the table.

I also think that built ins might work nicely in this space. I’d probably do a bench under the window and then some shelving.
Or you can leave that wall empty and do it on the FP wall. I think it will brighten up the space.
