Carpet can only be chosen on site. Personally? If at all possible consider a switch to hard surface. Even LVP ( luxury vinyl plank. ) I really wouldn't rush to replace edge to edge carpet with more of the same. Even if that means a delay and a piggy bank.

Decorate in HASTE? Repent at your leisure : )

What is the long term thing you would want? Pay once if at all possible. Consider how LONG you will be in the house, and the price DIFFERENTIAL between both options...........and divide by that whatever it is....number of years you plan to stay. Think too what you may want in the kitchen. The more unified the flooring? The more unified the house.

IMO with pets there is no way I would ever have wall to wall carpet I think switching to a nice hard surface flooring and adding area rugs is just a better choice all the time.

I agree with Jan and Patricia about a hard floor surface. What is under the carpet--is it possible that it is hardwood?

Is a new paint job in the future? Gray is hard to coordinate with anything else, even other grays. (There’s cold gray and warm gray and they can look really bad together.)

I don’t see a reason to change the current carpet to another carpet.
If you want carpet I’d leave this one until you can do one flooring consistent through the home with area rugs in each space.

I could be ok with doing this throughout the house and getting area rugs for living room and bedroom

For a look that’s classic and will age well I’d avoid gray wood or wood look vinyl or tile. I’d advise a product that looks like a warm medium toned brown

Honestly, wasn’t planning on it. I have painted several rooms in the house but dont want to tackle the tall ceiling plus we like the current color. Any particular water resistance laminate you guys would recommend?

All LVP is water resistant/water proof. Go back up to the top...."Look for a good wear layer"

@Diana Bier Interiors, LLC Unfortunately, just concrete. Is there certain LPV that works better going on the top of ceramic tile vs the crazy mess of busting it all up first?

Well, it is interesting that you said the walls were light grey because in one photo they do look light grey and in another they look more greige.

Whatever flooring you decide on, whether it be carpeting or a hard surface, you need to borrow or purchase a few feet of it and look at it in a few rooms at different times of the day and see what looks best, because your walls look totally different , presumably at different times of the day.

Maybe you want to change out all your light bulbs in your home to uniform cooler spectrum bulbs now, before you make any decisions.

We have Coretec LVP in our Florida home. I would recommend light to medium shades. Darker shows the dust.

Coretec has lots of options.

I've said this over and over, but I'll repeat it again--no one can give you a firm answer on color based on what we see on our monitors. Monitors, print, all render color inaccurately--you must see the products in your room with your light. From what I see, I like the Dockside in Pier, it seems to be a medium wood tone that would work with gray walls. But that being said, the color in the close-up looks different than the color on the left, thus proving my point. If you were my client I'd get samples of what might work, bring them home, and we would decide together. That's the only way to ensure that you know what you're getting and that it works in the room. Sorry I can't be of more help, but that's just reality.

Love that Parisian Oak or Dockside for a darker look. Do you know the color name of your walls?

The advise to put samples next to your existing wood stairs is a good one. So if you decide to do the vinyl plank in the living room what do you do on your stairs? Are you still left with having to pick a carpet? I really don’t like the look of vinyl plank stairs. Have you found your trusted local installer that has given you a budget for everything you’re looking at?

And I see a smidge of orange toned wood in the laundry room - is that your kitchen cabinets or are they painted white like your trim?

Kitchen cabinets are similiar as they're wood too. I wouldn’t be against having the cabinets painted white throughout the house.

@thinkdesignlive I would carpet our bedroom and the stairs still even if we went with plank for eveything else. i do have a local guy that I do business with, budget is not super important as I only want to do this once, next time someone else will probably own it.

Why??? A nice nig area rug gives you as much softness underfoot, as much warmth. ...........And bedroom carpet gets dirtier faster than anywhere in your home. Bare feet and dead skin : ) ......ask any carpet guy who's honest. You're better off binding a broadloom remnant for a nice big area rug. Many times? You can do that VERY inexpensively.

A runner on the stair....... is better too.
