Excessive Contingencies Even in Buyer's Market?
Comments (50)berniek - actually, the agent did try to get them to negotiate, but the seller was so PO'd that their mind was absolutely closed to any other negotiation from the buyer who made the offer. When teh realtor approached the seller about a new offer, they flat out refused. They just didn't want to deal with the hassle that these people created. So, in essence, the realtors did try, seller said screw it....See MoreRedecorating daughter's room. help please!
Comments (33)Borrowing this idea from another thread You could use a length of tuille with hooks like that, a clip of some type. Paint them different colors. If you don't want to try attaching a ribbon, you could just drape it (them) along with the tuille. Or use two shades of tuille -- see how that fabric is two prints? Imagine it mainly white with some pink along the top -- just a bit so it isn't too much with the canopy. You can even buy 6" wide tuille "ribbon" at craft stores pretty inexpensively ($3) and use that for any colors. You could make the whole thing just a valance, sill length or to the floor. If you put the bed against that wall, you either wouldn't use a separate window treatment or wouldn't use the canopy there. If the bed is on that wall, you might want to have a chair or beanbag in a corner where she can have a special "private" reading/playing space. The sides of the canopy could be tied back to the walls to give a pretty drape when open and let her close it when she wants....See MoreChoosing a Facility
Comments (29)My MIL lived on her own until recently; now she is living in a very nice assisted living. We just brought her there after short hospital stay. She has not balked for which we are grateful. She is a very formidable woman, and we expected lots of difficulties and complaints. I think the dementia and the short hospital stay have caused her to forget about her most recent home. She is content which is a relief. She is 101 and has progressing dementia and very poor hearing. Bpath, in MIL's case, meds have been prescribed without our knowing. We are going to work with the management, so we will be consulted. MIL can select her own physicians, but it would be up to us to transport her to their offices. The assisted living works with doctors from a well known practice in our area, so we are okay with using them. I have to say this experience has been a learning curve for our family. The assisted living residence does not expect us to be involved but is very open to working with us....See MoreAnyone else way over budget and schedule on their custom build?
Comments (54)@Jeff Grenz Thanks! All practical advise. You are right on the straw not being wide enough-that pic was from the new grader (got rid of the first one) and we were at the beach. Asked him to make it wider and he did some but we had monsoon season before we got back and have a couple of spots that are going to have to be cleaned. Most of the finishes have been picked. We got samples from the company we are using for lighting, Ordered appliances months ago, should be here any day I would think. Front door finally showed up-that took 7 months. Garage doors are here. We do need to get a deposit in on the hardwood flooring. Decisions left: stone for patios and porches. Boxing materials (almost done with this), fireplace coverings inside, tile, deck board color and master tub. I think that's mostly everything. I've gone through all the numbers and need $82k on top of bank draws to finish. Going to just round that to $100k. On the front porch waterproofing. Good eye-the front lip is flashed to the below grade waterproofing below the slab to send it to the drainage mat. I am flashing the wall with the door this weekend and have to take out some brick because the masons got ahead of me. Planning on using a membrane on top of the slab that drains to the stairs....See Morelizziesma
