OT--I am devastated by the loss of Abigail
Comments (40)Y'all are so nice to me, and you have been so nice to me for so long. I am deeply grateful. I really appreciated hearing that you have had similar experiences with loved pets and loved people. I would really love to hear more. Please write to me at jimchaney@cableone.net One of my wonderful nieces had the same suggestion of getting a new kitty, and when I arrived back at the house a few days ago, my niece, who has a doorkey, told me to close the front door quickly. I asked why, and she pointed to a doorway, where I saw this little black streak running through the den and then the connecting living room. My niece had called the "pound" in five counties to find a cat that looked like Abigail. She went 50 miles to get my kitty, who is black with white on her throat and part of her belly. I named her Esmerelda and call her "Izzy." Izzy is a nine week old darling ball of black fluff who sleeps on my chest when I am in bed, except when I turn over onto my tummy and then she sleeps on my butt. And purrs. Funny sensation, the sense of whirring in your butt. The last two days I've been studying for an exam-12 hours a day, and Iz sleeps on my tummy except when that cute black furry face looks over the top of my book at me or gnaws on the edge of the book. Iz is what the term "beautiful cat" is all about. I've been at the computer for about an hour and in that time she has managed to turn over the trash can, run through the house many times, has snuggled up to my feet, looked up many time with an "Isn't it time to play?" look, and is driving her 7 year old thirteen pound stepbrother Tupelo to distraction. Tupelo jumps up on the desk to get away from her and then sits on the scanner. He's now licking his left front paw while he stands up. Tupelo is very patient and usually gives me 5 minutes before he throws the papers off the scanner so he can lie down. Cats are hilarious. Please let me hear from you. Comments (21)Yes that always a good thing to do that i forgot to mention. Can be bought at most nursery stores, when cutting limbs off of the street trees i used regular Paint as dad used to use it and it seemed fine , course dad used to paint the gas stove and dryer line threads as well im still around ! To note i did by the prune seal its black sticky stuff with a brush in lid that will last long time for fig sticks. For shoots when i pinch them off less than pencil thick i use a pinch of pots potting soil as it stops the latex that white stuff from dripping. Thats just me. ; ) Martin...See MoreButcher block counters not so great after two years
Comments (16)2LittleFishies, how many coats of Waterlox do you have? We have a *lot* (six, I think) and went almost two years before our first noticeable scratch/ding...courtesy of me dropping a bread knife on the counter two days ago. (Luckily, it landed with the dull side; unluckily, it still made a palpable dent in the wood...) We have stoneware dishes that are on there frequently--not sure how they compare to yours but they do not scratch the finish. We did go easy on the counter until it had fully cured--which can take up to 90 days. Were yours just finished before they were installed a few weeks ago? If so, they may well not have cured yet (in which case I would go ahead and put another coat on and let that cure the full time--annoying now but better in the long term). If they cured in the shop, though, that shouldn't have been a huge issue. Wish I had better advice! BTW, we clean ours with 50-50 vinegar/water solution--but I didn't realize that you couldn't use the heavy-duty cleaners, so definitely am taking note! (I might have read that at some point and failed to process it since we use vinegar anyway, but now I'll pay closer attention!)...See MoreTwo Months
Comments (16)It doesn't surprise me that there are other mother's out there that are so similar. Selfish. My sd's mom hasn't talked to her since her birthday in march. 2 months also. (before her birthday, it would have been an entire year since she had seen her, with just a handful of phone calls). But now she thinks she is punishing her for writing her letter to her mom. But I don't expect that relationship is going anywhere. SD won't even answer the phone if her mom calls anyway. She finally sees her for who she is now. Now she has to work on the relationships she has almost destroyed here at home....See MoreSheila z8a Rogue Valley OR
