Hello all - We are planning a remodel/update to the front of our new (to us) house, but are in need of some advice and guidance on how to achieve the style we want. Most urgently, we need to decide on the exterior paint colors since the house will be painted in the next week.

We hope to learn from all of you and would be happy to share any additional info or photos needed. Our overall goal is give the house a more cottage/country feel, but we are not sure if we are going in the right direction with our project ideas, and can’t really picture the final look.

Generally, we are planning to do the following projects:

  1. Replace garage doors - already ordered in white, see sample photo below;
  2. Replace front double door with a single door w/sidelights - We would consider stain or paint;
  3. Paint the house. We are considering perhaps the walls in light green-grey (e.g., Play on Gray DE6228) with whitish (Swiss coffee or almond milk) trim, but we have no idea how it would look. Our painter will be using Dunn Edward’s paint; and
  4. Hardscape: (4A) strip travertine from front walkway/porch, install brick on porch in herringbone pattern, consider brick bordered cement for walkway; (4B) remove all stack stone from short wall along walkway and replace with brick columns and perhaps stucco walls.

We are hoping on getting some feedback and suggestions for the paint (walls and trim) in light of the style we are going after. We could also consider having to front door painted or stained.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information and thank you for any help!
