Comments (16)Ooooops! It took me two years to get up the nerve to order from them, and mine is in that same shipment. Not knowing when they would arrive, I had them shipped to my school (sorry, I repeat myself). Every time my classrooom intercom sounded, I thought "This could be it", but it wasn't. You see, the office always notifies me when a package arrives. Then, I can send a student (who has completed his/her assignment) to the office to retrieve the package for me. It's such a thrill to see these students get excited and all those hands going up, saying "Pick ME, Pick ME!" Hee! Hee! Comments (6)Yeah, don't put mulch in the hole. After planting, mulch should go on top of the soil around the plant but not right up against it. Its job is to keep the soil from drying out or changing temperature too quickly. I used some good potting soil when I planted mine, and they went straight in the ground (no pre-soak) but with plenty of watering. Another tip that I read in a daylily book but I don't see much in planting instructions: Make sure that the soil around the plant is mounded up higher than the surrounding area, because it will probably settle some over time, and you don't want your plant to be sitting in a pit. I'm sure there are lots of other good tips out there. From what I've read, various people have different ideas about planting and fertilizing new daylilies, but as long as you don't do anything crazy, they should do fine. Comments (6)It may not look like Dick Clark, but I think it is DC. The leaves are spot on, being very glossy and medium green. Dick Clark is photosensitive, meaning it gets its color from light exposure, so if those blooms opened while in the dark, they would be very light in color. The sunlight is what gives DC its deep red hue. If you put it outside for a day or two they will start to turn deep red and you'll see its the right rose. :) Also, be sure to remove the news paper (you'll find some soil under there, not much however) and pot them up in a larger pot. I would not put them directly in the ground like that, they are too small to fend for themselves in my opinion and can use some babying until they get stronger....See More
