Design Dilemma Landscape Design Exterior

Outside ideas?

I am not creative at all but I bought this house and updated a little bit of the inside with the help of Pinterest and this app, however I am at a loss when it comes to the outside. The stone is from the 70’s and I would really like to get rid of it or do something to make it more updated. I appreciate any suggestions. I thought of putting brick on it but I have not been able to find a match to the original.

Not more brick. Board and Batten Siding.

Or you can simply paint the stone like you see below.

The only thing I've done with them is that I put big plastic bows on them and pile them in a Santa wagon I put on my front patio at Christmas. They look like Christmas gifts and don't get messed up in the wind, rain or snow at Christmas. Mine are big tins (like the ones pre-popped popcorn comes in. Oh, I've also seen where people cut them up with tin snips and use the colorful pieces to cover things like a photo frame or the frame of a mirror or bulletin board. Be careful, of course, because the edges are really sharp when you cut them up. planters outside. plant ideas please!

ok folks, revisiting this. (we haven't bought anything yet!). DW and I do not want to fill up these planters directly. we want to put pots in these planters. a few key reasons: this area will drain onto the artificial turf. we are very wary of having soil and/or a lot of water drain onto the turf and create weed issues (im already addressing that with weed killer on the artifical turf). so, any ideas on how to plan this now? types of pot to 'embed' into these planters? what the pots could potentially sit in? e.g. rock or stones? I hope y'all get the idea. were thinking 3 pots in each planter. likely with some of the plants mentioned above. open to other ideas, given our top concern.... Thanks!!

Paint it as mentioned, (Romabio) or remove it and just put on siding.

I hate painted stone, always. If you must change it, remove or cover it with batten as in BeverlyFLADeziner's very first picture. Then add a bit of landscaping.

You cannot cover the stone with siding because the siding will never align with the window. . It's simply a veneer and can be power chiseled off the face of the structure. Check out YouTube videos that will illustrate exactly how to do this. It's a weekend project.

Instead of altering brick -

what do you think about dark bronze / dark grey painted window frames... and that sort of current look? cause lines of the house are simple. And change more idk what.

Change front light, etc...

After all that, landscaping will make a huge difference. Start planning now to install next spring.

Plant a tree to bxlance the asymmetrical space. It will cover most of the stone. Two birds, one stone wall.

i don’t believe that the stone needs to be removed in order to cover it with another siding. I had a contractor put ”furring” ( strips of wood or metal ) over my stone & install siding over that. Speak with a contractor.

I hate painted stone. It never looks good IMO.
