Here's my thinking on curtains. You do have to kind of narrow down the search a bit to what style you are looking for to accent your room, provide any privacy or light management you want, and work with your room and furniture. In that regard, I think your idea to do panels on rings sounds very good in that pretty space. Next, you need to decide about fabric. Will a silk or satin-look panel be "user-friendly" in a patio slider application that (presumably) gets high traffic/lots of use? Will it complement your existing style and furnishings? Again, I think you're right on track to say No, even though they are muy bonita. Something in linen, in washable fabric like a poly blend, something in a cotton or even a chenille, might be a better choice for that door area. Now, do you buy something ready-made or do you have it custom-made, or do you get after it yourself? Options 2 and 3 give you the most flexibility in style and fabric, but the price of custom and your sewing ability can absolutely kill either option. So, are you doing ready-made or one of the other two choices? Now.......if you want to have them done or make them, then, the world is your oyster. JoAnns fabrics has some great decorator choices right now in fabrics. In fact, I bought this nice tone on tone textured chenille for my own drapery project in the fall. But, if you are going to be out hitting the sidewalks looking for panels, may I suggest that you do a bunch of looking, maybe even bringing home some possibles that appeal to you and look like they will work in your room. Take your paint chip with you to Bed Bath & Beyond, Linens N' Things, JCPenney, Tuesday Morning, etc., so you don't have to imagine the color. Make sure you know exactly what length you need. And try to find 50" wide panels minimum. They look nicer and hang nicer. Red

Hi bristlingacres, I am the writer of the Decorating in Prairie style articles on the rug website. I wanted to explain what I mean by "organic architecture". It is different from what most people think of "organic". Most people describe "organic" as something that looks like plants, flowers, along the lines of "organic gardening". Also people looking at Modern designs describe organic shapes as very elongated curvy types designs. Nothing rigid. I think the shapes the "stuff" in a lava lamp are organic. For "organic architecture" that I write about, it means that the home and all the furnishings are designed for the specific site. Frank Lloyd Wright used the term all the time, so since my rugs are geared towards people who like that concept, I use the term organic in that context. Since the Prairie style houses are generally low, horizontal, rectilinear structures, the furniture designed for those homes were rectilinear. The art glass windows were mostly designs of the wild plants found near the building site of the house. The architects of the time would do geometric abstractions of those plants in the window design. If rugs were designed specifically for the home, then they would echo those geometric designs. Thus (finally got here, whew) the rug designs tend to be geometric motifs and not the curvy or plant like designs that most associate with the term organic. I agree, my designs are not for everyone, but for the people who are attracted to the whole concept and like a linear abstraction - they seem to be the ticket. Kswl2, that's a closet, representing most of the storage we have in the living space (next to the door by the 1/2 bath is a small utility closet full of cleaning supplies and tools, etc). Most of our shoes are in there already! Normally boots live in there too, but I'm hesitant to put wet boots in there in winter. The tray doesn't fit well behind the door anyway, so it may have to live in front of the closet or on the other side of the bench in winter. I'll make the shoes works with whatever treatment would be most appropriate. It just needs to look right and be easy to maintain.

Stay away from trying to match colors, it usually doesn’t work. Pick a completely different color and as you said pull accent color from that in a rug in front of the sink, towels etc. I just repainted both of our bathrooms and a tip I learned on an online site said to paint the ceiling the same color as walls. It will make a smaller room look larger because your eyes are not stopping at where the walls meet the ceiling. Both my baths were a lighter blue but it will work with darker colors also and it worked! Really made a difference.
