Sleek white kitchens have been popular, so many folks are finding granite "too busy," which is a matter of personal taste. Granite a great material for kitchen countertops. If you have good lighting, this shouldn't make the kitchen look dark. What is the flooring?

Unless you are selling soon, select material that you love. Black granite is very dramatic and could be fantastic.

Paired with grey cabinets and stainless appliances that could be very sleek, but might tend towards looking moody unless you select light cabinets. White is classic, and looks bright. Also nice with some wood elements.

I love the granite you chose! I think with lighter cabinets and the floor you picked it can be super dramatic. With a stone that demands attention, the rest of the room needs to be simple. Also, black and white are classic and never go out of style. Granite has managed to still be used despite competition from a ton of new products. I have granite and love it. My friend bought quartz and loves it. Another bought dolamite and loves it. Do what you love and work around that gorgeous stone!

Love that stone. But I would stick to a light/medium cabinet. I saw a combo of natural wood cabinets and that type of very dark stone at a home, it was stunning, and very modern.

Beautiful granite! I would choose a gray from the floor tile for the cabinets, and it shouldn’t be too dark.

When I upgraded my kitchen several years ago from a brown laminate countertop to black granite, I couldn’t believe how dark it made the kitchen feel even with light coloured cabinets and lots of windows. I am in the process of planning a complete kitchen reno and will definitely be choosing a light countertop.

Why not do the island with that granite and a lighter color surround.

I love that granite! But I would not pair it with gray cabinets. Your kitchen will be too much like a black-and-white photo. That granite is so great, I don’t want it to be dulled down. Let it be a star. Perhaps light wood cabinets or cream cabinets.

Edited to add: I found a few photos with gray cabinets you mentioned. It actually looks very good, but you have to make careful choices to pull it off. Lots of lighting too.

I think the dated granite has lots of dots. Yours is pure, crazy movement, no dots. It's gorgeous! I would go with cabinets that contrast with the black. Maybe a cold white that is as saturated as your black.
