Lily (BTW, that is my cat's name!) The entry to the bedroom is to the right of the cat room. When you are walking past the cat room, you take a right and pass by the opening of the cat room, and then by the bathroom entry on the left and the closet entry on the right, then you keep going until you get to the bedroom. I don’t have a door on the closet because I will be able to see a pretty view through a big window in the opposite bathroom. The closet its huge so I don’t technically need more space, but having a 6 ft wall with just a mirror on it seemed wasteful to me. Yes, the negative would be if I found a great sculpture and it’s bigger than I could fit in the niche!! Other than that, if the casing of the foyer is okay to create the ‘wall/border’ of the niche, then that is great! I love your idea about forming a casing on both sides of the sculpture to really put a frame around it. Hopefully I’ll find something before the house is built! Because I have the space, I AM going to get one of those 3 way mirrors :) I was going to do one of two things. One option is to have 3 mirrors on entire wall opposite the cat room and the niche, and the two outer mirrors would adjust when I wanted the 3-way function. And yes, I was hoping for storage behind all 3 mirrors but it works even if I don't add storage (the mirrors would be the cabinet doors). If I didn’t care about the niche, I could have full hanging space behind the mirrors too. OR, I saw this photo and was wondering if this is a good option if I don’t add more space to the closet. I could keep a little storage behind the two outer sides that project, and the center mirror would be flat against the wall. Then you adjust the side mirrors when needed. The negative is the two side mirrors (the wings) would be a little bit in the way of accessing the hanging clothes on either side. I imagine I don't have space for the shelves on the sides so the side mirrors may look odd just hanging out there.

Actually, I like what celery girl has come up with in the post showing both the ikea rug and a blue one. Once you have your table centered under the light, you will not have much room left, and the narrower shelving adds texture without mass. Take a look at the two looks: does it seem to you that the first room appears spacious, and the second is a bit busy? That is because the first photo is monochromatic, and relies on texture and depth of colour for interest - a much better idea for your more intimately sized room.

Like the idea of installing rough in plumbing and electrical below/behind the cabinet/countertop in case you want a full kitchen later. Would go ahead and add a deep stainless steel sink, even if only a single bar sink -- now ... and add a faucet with a high arc. Then a dishwasher and /or ice maker could be added later using the same supply and drain if you wish. Just space the pipes and wiring with potential future changes in mind -- and do be sure you are very clear when you hire your plumber and electrician in explaining what you want. Meantime, one of the larger toaster ovens likely could cook/heat a half pizza. There are single and double burner cook tops you could keep on hand as needed as well. ONE CAVEAT AS TO STOVE: An actual electric range requires special wiring -- not just a standard outlet used by countertop appliances. Know what wire to add and do so now (I would) OR, depending upon close proximity to your breaker box ... you may need to add plumbing pipes through which you can push the wire in order to get the heavier wire from the breaker box to a future stove location.

No picture molding please! It seems all the rage right now as quick fix decor, but will look indeed like you put it up because you didn't know how else to decorate that wall and you only put it there because you can't fit it on other walls. Not a good look. You have a lot of really interesting furniture that just needs some extra styling help to make the place feel full in the right areas. Love the hutch. Can it be moved to the right by 8 - 12" so it feels more relational with the console? Love the white console table but that mirror does nothing for it. Instead get a large vertical, rectangular piece of artwork with the same colors as the hutch and frame it as wide as the console. (Maybe a vintage poster?) It will make this whole wall feel so much more complete and cohesive. Will your sofa and chairs fit the same way as it was staged? (Looks like your sofa may be too big?) It would be nice to have your console and fireplace opposite each other, a stronger look. And the two chairs seem sad so far apart. Good-bye fake plant. And, I presume you need curtains for privacy, but man those are beautiful windows and sad to see them covered.
