Inspiration needed! Fireplace surround
Comments (11)Any reason why you would not want a glass door. Glass doors are specifically made for wood burning. Main reason being that when you burn a fire you normally leave the damper open all night as the fire dies out. With glass doors, you can close them when the fire is dying out and leave the damper open, so you don't get all that cold air coming into the home at night. Glass doors will normally have mesh curtains or backup wire mesh doors behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open. Some glass doors can also be burned with the doors closed. Not that other types of screens might be appropriate, I am more curious why you think glass doors would not be good for wood burning....See Morehelp me decorate my mantle & fireplace surround
Comments (13)This fireplace surround and entire wall is quite unique. I like the basket you used but the shape is a little off. I think instead of filling the place up with modern looking items and frames you could try to go for a more unique look to fit that wall. Rattan, wood and glass textures in light colors would look really nice here. It has a super earthy feel. I would paint the sides of the fireplace a different color than that dark sage (if you're open to it). The vaulted ceilings really make it look interesting....See Morefireplace surround-can I put granite over tile
