Which knob do you like better?
Comments (11)Thanks for the votes, and I'm glad you like the colors, enduring! Of course I watched Downton Abbey :) but I didn't notice a pink and green room. It's a combo I've always loved, but it was really serendipitous here. I found the handmade green tile and figured it was a good way to sneak a tiny bit of color into the room. The paints I sampled were a similar gray green, and a pink that actually looked white when I painted the sample. The gray green felt a bit gloomy, and the pink was nice with a stained glass window that was already in the bathroom. I love the fact that painting the entire room makes it look more pink !! and my husband is being very tolerant, somewhat to my surprise....See MoreWhich quartzite do you like better with walnut?
Comments (25)I also love the white macaubus, I ordered the same quartzite for my kitchen, due for installation in about 3 weeks. Oddly enough I also had a blue countertop in my previous home, it was corian a Mediterranean blue with big whit specs (prettier then it sounds). Apparently the new owner didn't share my appreciation for a blue countertop and ripped it right out. If you plan on staying there for a long time, get what makes you happy, if resale is a consideration, I'd go with the white, although I'm partial to the white of course! Have you considered perhaps an unattached island only in the blue or a blue backsplash to pull that beautiful color in? If there was one thing I learned from hunting for the perfect piece of granite for nearly 4 months was that a piece of granite can look absolutely beautiful but perhaps not in a (or my) kitchen, hence my decision for not purchasing wild sea green, a beautiful stone that gave me the warm fuzzier until I saw it online in a kitchen, I knew I'd grow tired of it quickly. Plus the macaubus stones I know are at from inexpensive so choose carefully! On a side to, I need help determining if a light colored wood floor will be too weak with white macaubus or if a darker wood would be a better contrast or if it's not even relevant(?). That will be for a separate post! Oh and i think walnut cabinets would be good with whote macaubus. Good luck!...See MoreWhich do you like better? Pics
Comments (40)annkh I think I have space for everything. The kitchen renovation adds a lot more cabinets than my existing setup. What are your thoughts on mitering the ends of the crown to the slope of the roof? That's the only way I can get the taller cabinets in. I guess I could go with 39" uppers. I'm still thinking about ways to reduce my price. I've taken some suggestions by livewire. I could reduce the cost by doing the following. -Creating a 9" full door base for my cookie sheets, cutting boards, etc. This would eliminate a costly all drawer base cabinet. I will, however, have to extend the easy reach corner base cabinet 3inches. I don't think it would add that much cost to it. (potential savings $200) -Go with a chimney vent. (potential savings (700-800) -Go with a blind cabinet in the wall corner. The blind corner and larger wall cabinet will add some cost, but I will save around $600 on the square wall corner. I will also need to order a trim piece for the other wall cabinet that butts into the blind corner. What is the normal size trim that goes there? (potential savings ($300) -The sink cabinets will cost around a thousand dollars. $450 sink base, $500 for the legs. Finished flushed ends added to the sink base $60. two trim pieces $80 I really like the look of the apron sink with the legs on both sides. I may be able to look at a spec book and come up with a similar look. Half legs would save a little bit of money. -DIY paneling for the peninsula. This could save me anywhere from $700 to $1200 depending on the tier discount I receive. -Raising the cabinets will add to the price....See Morewhich stone do you like better for the fireplace?
Comments (30)This post has more pics of your space which I think are helpful in deciding what will work. I *love* the stone on the right, but I wonder if it would be too much small rectangles going on with the backsplash you have (which is beautiful, BTW!) So I guess my vote is for the one on the left. I wish I could see them both photoshopped! Here is a link that might be useful: Srg's thread with pics...See Moreherbflavor
