I have been wanting the Mayor, but I was concerned about hardiness too. I will wait until the price goes down.

A couple of years ago we purchased Rose F. Kennedy but haven't seen it do much for us yet. The tet version we bought is a terrible grower. We can hardly keep it alive. We have had lots of trouble with Heavenly Angel Ice to. Maybe the problem is that it is overshadowed by the huge plants on either side of it, but so far, we haven't seen anything amazing out of it. The flowers are charming but we haven't seen any mass displays of them to make up for their small size.

I have had the same experience with Heavenly Angel Ice--nowhere near the height it is supposed to be or the display. As I look at Stout winners, so many just haven't performed or aren't that impressive. Dorothy and Toto--maybe after a mild winter there are a few blooms. Heavenly United We Stand--yes, a good daylily, but as has been noted on this forum, there are a lot of this form and color out there. Scarlet Pimpernell--we shall see, but it was all splotches last year (I got it as a bonus). Webster's Pink Wonder--didn't do well here, though Davisson's Boss Lady (a kid) is nice. Carnival in Mexico--never had good bud count here or height here. Entwined in the Vine--I mistakenly gave it away. Its kid, Kingdom Bound, is very good and more showy. Even going back farther, Fooled Me may have been an important parent, but I disliked its weedy growth here. Primal Scream can be a problematic performer with poor height, though I have seen an impressive plant. Ed Brown, maybe an important parent, but rather tender here. All American Chief--great plant in every respect.

I agree about Heavenly Angel Ice, pretty blooms but not a lot of blooms. Hardy enough for me though.. Scarlet Pimpernel had 1st blooms this year, not a lot of blooms but they were pretty. Hoping for better next year. Ed brown has always bloomed well for me, and reblooms every year, but after 10 years or so I am finally up to 8 fans. Carnival in Mexico did not do well, barely surviving and few blooms. It died this summer. Rose F Kennedy had its 3rd year and 1st blooms this year, but it did really well, blooming almost 6 weeks and added 3 fans to the original 2. Dr Jerrold Corbitt had pretty blooms, but struggled here and finally disappeared. Bluegrass Memories, Stenciled Infusion, Dances with Giraffes, and Cameroons Twister have been amazing in how well they bloom. I have to say, I am not really wowed at the look of Dances with Giraffes though.

I've seen Mayor of Munchkinland in Tennessee gardens, and it didn't seem to have that many buds. It's not a look I like. I'm glad Pink Lemonade Party and A Groovy Kind of Love were Honorable Mentions.

I have Mayor of Munchkinland in North Idaho zone 5. It is fabulous with fast increase and a huge bloom on many scapes with some late or rebloom. It litterly blooms all summer after getting started in late June. I started with one small fan in 2019 with one scape and 10 buds. It had a least 14 scapes and over 150 buds in 2023.

I have Scarlett Pimpernel and it has been amazing for me. I had 2 very large clumps in the back row and they were great as a background. I cut it down to one clump this fall as I'm making room for my seedlings. I have Webster's Pink Wonder and it just survives and not that many blooms at all. Primal Scream for many years just had so-so amount of blooms, didn't increase, etc. Very disappointing. Finally it decreased one year, so I dug it up, put fresh good dirt from Lowes, replanted and it has been amazing ever since, lots of buds, increasing a lot, etc. Ed Brown never did much, even moved it and it only got worse. Finally it hit the road. I didn't care for it much anyway.

I think much of what we see is politics or a popularity contest of the hybridizer rather than of the merits of the flower..
