I need some serious help!!!! Please!!!
Comments (33)The OP never said they have water problems. They said they have high humidity. Quite likely they're referring to outdoor humidity. I live in south Florida so I'm familiar with high humidity. Most homes here are climate controlled all year long. Many houses visible from my desk have solid wood flooring that was installed in houses here that are largely uninsulated and were built before air conditioning became prevalent and they're largely in good shape. Some solid exotics are problematic in regards to humidity swings but engineered floors only have issues when subjected to extremely low humidity or flooding. Wood seems a feasible option in this case of this poster. Even the least expensive items I have seen are reasonably stable. The effect of low cost is generally manifested in lower grade veneer or shorter lengths. I have nothing against wood look ceramic but it will never will never give you the board lengths, color depth and variety of a product like Triangulo 1/2" x 5-1/4" engineered plank. Additionally, one needs to consider the leveling aspect of using wood look ceramics. From what I've heard and read, the subfloor has to be very level before installation of square edged wood look tiles. All that said, I've often advised people that they'd be better off with carpet, vinyl, tile or another hard surface floor, when it was obvious that their situation was problematic for wood, even though I only sell wood....See MoreGel Stain Staircase. Comments (30)as far as I understood they repair while they mitigate..I suppose different crews at work, but one can't just remediate without replacing whatever's damaged. one needs to get estimates though-what's happenning, where, what it entails..it is overwhelming, we also spent couple months just being in shock and drinking wine, even though ours didn't present any safety issues unless being disturbed. Then one takes a deep breath and starts calling.. and sources for leaks should be all taken care of, no question I'd start with a mold guy and a GC..to put some picture together insulate the house..drywall comes out for that..you might be surprized at the state of black paper too..we patched ours, overall was not bad.. or else would be easier to take the house down..asbestos-we had to remediate it 'cause was everywhere..but yes, now the house' s insulated)) and we're in Southern CA, no snow-but makes sense for a house to be insulated. roof-was still fine yet we did have to change lots of stuff there since was at the end of its cycle. and we didn't have leaks, mold, etc nothing structural too. and wiring was fine. still..life experience I could easily live without lol but hey..everything learned in comparison. I had this phrase I'd be telling myself "Nobody shoots yet? okay then". I got it in my head to automatic level. It popped up even when I didn't need it. Like a broken record. Yet it helped. In order to do stuff one needs to keep himself functional..)) as for Craigslist etc don't worry..half of our place is craigslisted, etsied, ebayed, blahblah. One of the best affordable ways to create, with time, a cozy and meaningful place for your family. So as to that part-a day will arrive and you'd be, like, wow, all the stories I have in our house....See MoreI need serious help. Where is Yardvark? haha
Comments (10)It is good to have the before pictures to ask folks what they might keep so you can pull those last if you don't like them. But to give you the best end result you need to clear out most of the over growth so that people can help you. Many of those bushes can be cut way back and they will come back smaller and then you can keep them controlled. Post the bush/shrub cleaned out version photos and some ideas of what you are interested in (special garden plants you like for butterflies, hummingbirds, vegetables, shade, sun, entertainment, low maintenance etc.) Photos should be bigger and panned like Yardvark likes. Also draw up a plan of house foot print and yard with measurements (how deep the beds are around the house, how big the lot is, distance form house to road, size of back yard). ***This will get you the best response. For example- I can't tell how close the tree is to the house on the left side. Do you want some color in the little secret garden in the last photo? A water feature, more seating? Do you like minimal landscaping or English garden? Right now your house is a burglar's dream--lots of unruly bushes to hide behind,...See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
