Comments (1)At Home Depot, Custom's Levelquik is a good Self leveling compound. Especially being that this is going over woodframe, don't forget the primer. As for thinset, They have one called Versabond that's also pretty good....See MoreHow important is a bathroom on every floor?
Comments (24)Thanks for the comments. I couldn't get it to display right on this floor plan, but I think the new bathroom entrance would be safe with the way it is set up. It's a bit hard to explain but the stairs go half way up have a small landing and then turn 180 degrees up to the landing that's shown on the plans. That results in having a few feet that have a railing so that no one should be able to fall down the stairs. I'd like to raise up the railing a bit since it's short so we'll probably do that when we put the bathroom in too. As far as the width that will be full ceiling height, its only about 10". I've included a profile that shows how the ceiling height decreases as you go outward. Maybe we won't be able to get away with no dormer... Are there any guidelines that say how high the ceiling should be above a sink, etc. It feels plenty big enough when I stand in the space but I'd hate to get it all built and then have it not be functional!...See MoreEvery Bathroom Should Have A Fireplace

Also, I'm afraid of chimneys falling down - I've seen too many of those....See MoreLippage on Bathroom Tile with Heated Floor
Comments (2)I wish I had known that before now. Unfortunately you often don’t come across these things until there are issues. The GC is suggesting replacing the problem tiles, but doing so may ruin the in floor heating which he’s saying will be our expense. We did the credit card test and there’s about 15-20 that don’t pass....See Moretztbn1
