Lighting Design Dilemma Bathrooms

I need some advice about lighting over a mirror medicine cabinet. I’ve chosen to go with a cabinet for extra storage in a small ensuite washroom. The cabinet is 25” wide x 26” high. I’m unable to have it recessed into the wall due to plumbing work immediately behind the wall.
Vanity is 34” high; 31” wide
Lighting store representative said if I place a vanity bar light whether LED or usual bulbs it would create a shadow downward & deflect the light.
She recommended lights with shades clear (sorry don’t know the proper term) with downward lighting.
These are not my taste or style for this bathroom. Need advice

Other question: amount of space required above faucet to cabinet & between top of cabinet & lighting. Ceiling height is 8 ft.

Opinions please.

We don't know your faucet. We can't see the bath. We don't know the width of the vanity........

All I can say is tape of the dimensions of the medicine on your WAll, SO YOUR FACE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MIRROR. ..AND IT CLEARS YOUR FAUCET WHEN IT IS OPENED.

What is left above that medicine? In inches. Now.select a light. One with an extension of at least seven inches, and read the specs TO ENSURE IT FITS. : )

Let's assume you followed the guideline above. Let's say you're 66" tall; the bottom of the cabinet might be 62 - (26 / 2) = 49" above the floor and the top 75" above the floor. The ceiling is 96" tall so there would be 96 - 75 = 21" of vertical space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling. My Tech Lighting Span vanity light is 6" deep. If you didn't place your vanity light too close to the top of the medicine cabinet and got a light at least this deep, I don't think you'd have any problem with shadows.

Below is a link to one that is available in different widths and is frameless and recessed. Were you wanting/needing surface mount or recessed, or does it matter? Might Something like this add some additional storage when mounted to the inside of a vanity door, if you have a vanity with doors? They can be found various places in various sizes. Hi all! Two years after finishing my kitchen remodel I am back to Gardenweb to research bath remodels. I am planning a crash remodel of one small and one medium bath. Can anyone point me towards a source for extra wide mirrored medicine cabinets? I am hoping for a three panel one 60" wide. I have found one on line but it was $2200 and my budget is more like $750. Also looking for reviews on washlets-- anyone with first hand (or bottom) experience of a washlet installed in their bath that they are happy with?

Babka, my MIL had one of those types of medicine cabinets. I liked it, but hubby doesn't. What he is envisioning: 2 triangular corner mounted medicine cabinets, with the door being a mirror. Between the two, a mirror, either built into a frame or just mounted on the wall with a frame. The wood needs to match the vanity's wood. If you do a recessed mount, you might be able to frame it with molding (like a picture-frame) to match the woodwork in the room. Won't make it round but will make it more traditional. :)
