Help me pick color for honey maple cabinets
I need some help, I’m stuck on what to do with these honey maple cabinets. We replaced our countertops and added a backsplash 2 years ago, but it wasnt in the budget to replace the other cabinets. They are in decent shape so we decided to have them refinished down the road. The island is a greenish gray, called “thetis” from the Cabico essence collection, almost looks like BM Metropolitan or Coventry Gray. So I’m debating between painting the maple perimeter either a creamy white or trying to match them to the island, or do we just leave them? The walls are BM Gray Horse and the trim is honey oak. Also, i would love to change the floors if that was in the budget, i’m afraid if we paint the cabs offwhite that the floors will look too peachy next to them…thanks!

Comments (41)Connie, We have one we planted in early May of this year. Can't really tell you much about personal experience yet, other than that it came through a unusually hot dry summer with no problems giving it regular but minimal care. No color to speak of yet, but I don't expect it to do much this year anyway. So far pretty tough, but again only a few months experience. The link takes you to where we bought it. We went to an open house for this nursery, I wanted to see the Chalk Maples due to rarity, LOVED them, and could not resist picking one out to bring home. The Chalk Maples she had all looked very healthy. She does ship, but I can't tell you the cost as we drove to her location. She did tell me she had shipped a number of them. As I originally stated, for Chalk Maple you are almost certain to have to ship a small tree, but by all counts they are worth it. Which bring up one other point. Even on the large Sugar Maples you have looked at, they aren't going to large for A LONG TIME. Probable a absolute minimum of 25-30 years before they begin to approach anywhere near stated max sizes. This is a hard decision to make. snookums2 can you explain If you are considering very sharp edges on the cabinetry, beware they don't wear as well; prone to damage to the crisp edge making them look worn. Thank you for this advise.I do not want a style that is prone to damage. I was planning on the style door as in picture #5 and #6. Are these the ones that are prone to damage? Do you or anyone else have any suggestions on a different style door? I am open for all ideas. We are not going to have an island. One of the people that will be using the kitchen uses a wheelchair. Comments (68)Sorry that I'm just seeing your post. Wow,those are gorgeous! Congratulations on your dream floor. We hit a huge bump in the road . Our Shaw Vicksburg was in the house ready to be installed. As the old floor (laminate)was being taken up we found moisture along the floor plates in our concrete slab. Obviously we couldn't install hardwood. Fortunately we bought from a local retailer and they could accept returns. Of course we pay a restocking fee and another freight charge on new floors. Now,we are installing lvp. Not what I had dreamed of but at least no worries. It is pretty realistic looking....See Moresue799701
2 years agoWe have honey oak hardwood on the rest of the house, so this is where i get stuck too! i dont know if i want hardwood in the kitchen, and if we try to match it we’ll have to refinish all the floors, right? so if we choose something like luxury vinyl plank or tile planks, what color? i dont want to have to change all the honey oak trim too!
