Art in Kitchen?

I don’t want open shelves (one more thing to dust) but I’d like to add framed art. Would two frames fit well here or is it better to just do one? What size is best? If more than one, what layout? I’m stuck and could use someone with a better design eye.
Long wall - 72”W x 54”H (to top of pantry)
Short wall - 38”W

given the very modern style of your kitchen, I would place a single painting, in the center of the space you have, to achieve a result similar to this:
I would plan, therefore, for a rectangular painting aligned with the upper limit of the kitchen, centered on the wall.

Comments (29)Well, it's too bad she's not ready to move on things yet. Even without fori's amazing range. BTW, did you know those sell for 6 to 8K at the specialty shops on this coast, fori? You could have a second career. In just one day I was able to dig up these--wouldn't they make a darling kitchen? You'd have to have a larger companion or two made to the side piece, but how Florida these colors are. Range (considering electric as well as gas, since gas availability varies in those neighborhoods--not worth it if she has to foot the bill to run service, and unfortunately a lot of the area is the kind of neighborhood where people would steal propane). I just lost my heart to the color scheme here, although we could have something else redone in the same buttercream+sea green, I suppose: Hoosier with side (original paint). Small, but with a repro side or two, could work: Reproduction cast iron sink. There are lots of old ones, but there was a problem with getting iron reporcelained recently, so this would be the fallback if we can't find a real one in good condition or a steel one that can be redone. Would love an old one in buttercream yellow, though. Not bad for less than a day's worth of looking around, and the total cost of everything including modern fridge and re-enameling a vintage table to match would be under 5K, even with repairs and shipping....See MoreHelp deciding art work for kitchen

Meaning I could see them with a sage and then maybe the buff background...not so sure about the russet though. I like the prints. I tried this exercise, but was stumped searching for swirly tile. I love the dark blue drapes. Purplepansies Approaching Thunder Storm--Oooh, I love the artwork! You did a great job of capturing the colors and the mood of the painting. I love the magma supreme granite. Honorbiltkit Vuillard--Also a beautiful painting, full of interesting details and patterns. You captured the color of the rug in the painting, and the painting you chose for your design does a great job of mimicking the painting in the painting. If that makes any sense. Palimpsest Vuillard--You also did a great job of capturing the colors of the painting, playing up the neutrals a bit compared to Honorbiltkit. The floor--is it Marmoleum?--mimics the colors of the rug. Style-wise, the table is unexpected, but I really like it in the design. Pricklypearcactus Lanadscape with Butterflies--I like the interplay of colors in your kitchen just as much as in the original painting. I just want to say how very much I've enjoyed this thread. 2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoI don’t like how one large piece looks as much, but maybe the OP does. I know it’s a popular look.
Here are a couple of examples:
If the OP finds something they really love, then I’d do it. And, we’re just seeing this one side of the kitchen — maybe one large piece would look best in the entire context, or not, I don’t know.
