Placement of Under Cabinet Lights
Comments (9)I'm not a lighting expert, just an regular guy who has barely finished their 1st kitchen remodel. I swear I almost did the exact same thing as you with the T4s. I realized it at the very last moment and got T5s instead. Since then I've read other posts which indicate that T2s might be an even better, slimmer choice. I don't favor option 1; I worry that it won't give you the proper task lighting you want where you want it. If your cabinets are a good 18" over your counters (so your lights won't get in the way) and it won't bother you that they hang down and are visible, you can go with option 2. While I probably don't qualify as "TKO" as they say here, it would bother me - both because of looks and because I would want the extra clearance for when I haul out my larger kitchen appliances. So if it was me, and I had it in the budget, I would send the T4's back and get T5s or T2s....See MoreBest placement for lights under floating/wall-hung vanity?
Comments (0)I'm going to install a long-ish run of vanity cabinets (about 90 inches). They'll only be about 10 inches off the ground and I've read on these boards that adding a strip of lights under them is a nice way to enhance the appearance. I'm making them wall hungbecause I think having more floor space visible will add a feelingof spaciousness to a somewhat narrow bathroom (around 7 feet). Where should I put the lights to get the best effect? Close to the rear of the vanity, near the wall? Close to the front? In the center? The vanity itself is being custom built and will only be about 17 inches deep....See Moreunder cabinet light placement and channel shape
Comments (3)Just saw this-- no bad glare. Great illumination. This is the second house where I've done it, so it's safe to say I like it quite a bit....See MoreKitchen Lighting - No Under Cabinet Lighting Because No Cabinets!
Comments (6)acm: We will have "can lights" of a sort in the space, but as I said, they will be 11 feet up, and the ceiling is angled, so it will be wash lighting, not task lighting. We are specifically seeking light that will be able to be closer in and won't be able to be easily shadowed by heads, which is the benefit of under cabinet lights, ya know? jslazart, I was wondering about something like that coming off the side wall. Even thinking about something like this, this, which could be moved out of the way or directed as needed to where you are working, but wonder if it would look too busy: I have yet to see a kitchen quite like ours, but will see if I can grab a good angle of what I am working with in Google Sketch Up to show you what I am working with. Thanks for the responses!...See Morejuniperg92
