Backsplash ideas

Hi fellow experts,
I need backsplash ideas for my new house kitchen. This is the first time we bought house. I want a seam less look for my backsplash which is low maintenance and has marble look. I zeroed to marble look porcelain tiles in large format tiles but am not sure if that would look good withmy new caledonia granite countertops and white cabinets and black kitchen island. Iam including pics of my kitchen. since my countertop already looks busy I want a simpler look for my backsplash ( marble look with black/grey veins). MY major concern is will seamless look go with my kitchen?

Comments (6)I agree that the floor and the rest of the room don't play nicely together. In a perfect world, your countertops and your floor would -- not match, but would coordinate or play nicely together. Since that isn't happening, I'd say try to bring in a backsplash to tie into the floor /repeat a bit of that coloring. A white backsplash would be the worst thing you could do -- with everything white "up top", it would emphasize all the more strongly that the floor is different. I'd also add color in curtains, linens, etc. I'd go with a bold-ish floral with some strong red; that'd suit my personality, and I think it'd tie into the cabinets well....See MoreNew Kichen countertop and Backsplash Ideas
Comments (2)Your kitchen is kind of dark, or at least the picture makes it look dark. If you don't get much natural light, I think new light counters would make a huge difference. The brown laminate sucks all the light out of the room. Have you been to look at samples, or have you browsed pictures on Houzz to see what style appeals to you? There are some nice, calm (not a lot of swirls or speckles, which would compete with your cabinets) light colors that I think would be great. What does your floor look like? Comments (30)Thanks Beth! Yes there is lots of that light green color in my island granite. The perimeter granite reads black overall, but it actually has green flecks in it, plus random blue flecks here and there. Hard to capture. My kitchen and well, pretty much the entire rest of the house, unfortunately had to go on the back burner for awhile and never got finished. I need to repaint walls, ceiling, baseboards, and cabinets. I will have to start my own thread one of these days asking for help from you and others to pull everything together. I have learned so much from you already! I have a thread with your cabinet painting instructions saved for when I tackle the cabinets. Your entire house is stunning btw. Comments (3)From some online pics, it looks like it's mostly white with some grey and gold veins. So depending on what your floors and cabinets are... go with a grey or gold tone. Maybe the white tone.. might depend on what slabs you pick and how much of the vein colors are in them. How you lay the backspack might depend on the cabinets. Some kitchens look great with a lot of subway, others better with just a little four inch rise of the counter material. Others are smashing with odd shaped tile big or small.
