Help! Tried to add seating to living room/den

I wanted to add seating to our living room/den… I got the small loveseat for its depth dimensions bc I didn’t want the couches to overlap. But it looks dwarfed and I don’t like the color. The room is challenging bc it is small, with a fireplace opposite larger couch, and walkway to backdoor on side.
Ideas? Rearrange, replace, toss?

I would try the TV on the wall with sconces, sofa on window wall and a chair to right of TV angled towards the room. Return the loveseat.

Hmmm…not a pro here, just giving my first impressions. Lovely room and garden. I’m not sure jck910’s solution will make TV viewing easy. You will be at a slightly awkward angle to watch TV (unless I’m not visualizing it well). As much as I hate TVs mounted over fireplaces, that may be an option. Swap out sofa and Love seat for a small sectional perhaps with a chaise along the 4-window wall. Possibly try a chair where the TV now stands. Pretty room - I like the interesting details.

twn - I think the idea presented by blondepegasus was to scoot the sofa out away from the wall and place either another sofa (not a twin to your existing sofa) or a couple of chairs, all facing one another to make a conversation area or grouping to make the most of your gorgeous FP. Have you tried moving the sofa away from the wall, or more in line with FP in the room (similar to the blonde's pics)?

The loveseat and the couch is what we have right now. I am debating if il change it to sectional instead as buyng two couches will be way more expensive than sectional. Or ican add an accent chair maybe?

Your sectional and rug are fine but then the effect is ruined by the two dark pieces that don't "belong". Could you possibly change the coffee table for one that is glass and metal? It would really open up your room and give a lighter, friendlier ambiance. Try and get one with two levels so the bottom can be used for storing books, which always give more personality to a room. I would put a light blue and beige pillow on your dark chair to give it some relation to the rug and sofa. The wall behind the chair could be used as a gallery wall or try several fairly large and colorful paintings there. Try a large plant or two against that wall also in some beautiful and interesting pots. Instead of the harsh ceiling light have a table lamp and a table with a lamp on it, one by the chair and one by the sectional. Your room will look so much warmer and user friendly.

BeverlyFLADeziner Peter, some of the advice you receive is not worth anything. ------------- No need for insults. Don't take my word for it. Feel free to look at all the threads that say, I painted my walls gray or purchased a gray sectional or installed gray carpet, what is wrong with my room? The problem is almost always because the gray is fighting with oak floors or tan walls or warm whites. Yes, gray and tans can work together but it takes decorating skill. If you are a decorating novice, make your life easier. Stick with the same color tones. On my screen the sofas show as dark brown. If they are in fact black, a warm dark wall would still help balance and work with the predominant tones in the room.

I don’t see a great solution. how about tv on sconce wall, sofa under windows, loveseat facing sofa with back to kitchen?

What if you tried getting two chairs instead of using the small loveseat. You're TV might also work better when your current sofa is. You could place the TV over the console there, then flank it with 2 chairs, and then put the sofa where the loveseat currently is. You could also try putting the sofa back to back with the loveseat and having the loveseat face the fireplace and the sofa face the TV over console.

The loveseat is not the same scale as the sofa so doesn't look right. Can you return?

The room is not the size for many people watching a big tv. The tv is too big for the room. Surely you have another room to watch tv? The sofa and coffee table thing are also too big for the space. I would redefine that spot as a place to read and enjoy the fireplace, or get a low coffee table for playing board games or doing puzzles.

Really a pretty room! im going to assume this is your only living room and the loveseat is non returnable. so, to solve your dilema, we need to make the loveseat fit in.

first, add a table with lamp between the sofa and loveseat. have the table as tall as the arm on the loveseat. Then, make the loveseat ”bigger.” find your fluffiest or thickest afghan and fold it the long way and place it on the back of the loveseat to make it appear as though the loveseat is taller. Then ad big pillows. at least four, to make the loveseat fluffier. See how that looks.

Is this the only place for the TV? Can you post a floor plan of the whole level where this space is ?BTW adding big pillows will only lessen the seating available

A definite no to love seat - if you can return, tv on a long console where couch is, couch under window and one or two chairs facing. A different coffee table would better connect the seating and might as well, rethink mantle. Sort of this setup:
