If you look at the warranty inforamtion on the manufacturer websites you will see the difference in how Zodiac treats the issue of resin pooling in contrast to Cambria. Zodiac states no spot will be more than the size of a quarter, I believe, and all spots must be confined to no more than a quarter of the slab for the slab to be considered first quality. Cambria's warranty states "color blotches are intended and designed into many colors to enhance the natural beauty...product will not be replaced due to these variations." Silestone does not address blotches at all in its warranty but does say color variances are not covered. I don't know if they would consider the splotches a color variance but I really have not heard of problems with this type of thing with Silestone, either. I think Cambria just decided they didn't want to deal with trying to solve the problem and so just "designed it in". Zodiac went the other way, and is trying to limit the problem, but can't guarantee there won't be any at all. So, if you like the blotches, go with Cambria, if you don't either be sure to view the slab first or don't go with Cambria, and make sure to check the warranty for this issue with whatever company you go with. I would advise you avoid doing business with AZ tile and Dean Jessup specifically. We had a horrible experience with them. Don't expect them to act with integrity or stand behind their product. We used a fabricator that was a personal referral from him. When we had discoloration and fingerprints that wouldn't come off of our Della Terra quartz he informed me I must have "scarred" it by cleaning with a paper towel. ( I called him within an hour of the fabricator leaving). We paid beyond stone to buff it with a cleaner at their recommendation. It mostly resolved the issue although as a result of the buffing the gloss and sheen no longer match our perimeter counters. Best we can figure out the fabricator applied turtle wax or something similar to disguise striations around the sink cutout. Which is why fingerprints couldn't be cleaned off. We still have some smudges. Bottom line rather than try to help us resolve the issue he was hostile and accusatory. He said the fabricator (a friend of his apparently) said it was fine so we must have done something. Do business with them at your own risk.

Love love love this topic. Your kitchens are amazing. Looking for pics of stainless; particularly of stainless with white cabinets and beadboard backsplash... Have you ever seen this combo? Any ideas would be awesome. Again truly amazing kitchens!!

I have Cambria Torquay and use Clorox wipes on them all the time. I use them to wipe down my counters, then follow it up with Method granite polish from Target (LOVE that stuff!) There is absolutely no streaking, haze, residue, discoloration, etc. I frequently put hot items straight onto the countertop, but try to use a trivet or pot holder most of the time. I'm not super worried about it, but I figure it doesn't hurt to use a little extra caution. I was given the option of having the sink cut-out finished into a cutting board, so I used that for a long time as a tester of sorts. It has held up to all stains and temperatures I've subjected it to. I was advised by the installer to use a it of straight acetone for any stains that couldn't be removed with regular cleaner or by scraping with a razor blade. That was four years ago, and I have yet to find anything that didn't wipe right off. And that's saying something, because I have young children. I absolutely love my quartz counters and would buy them again in a heartbeat.
