Should both floors of two story be the same hardwood colour

Hi, I really need advice here!

We are planning a kitchen reno with new floors throughout the main floor. We currently have Bruce gunstock in a semigloss on the second floor of our two story. I have always found it a tad orange, but pretty.

We have considered changing the main floor to a slightly toned down colour with more brown in it.

My gut says to stay with the Bruce Gunstock in a lower sheen finish, (i think a lower sheen would be better in the kitchen)), but I would also love an engineered wood in a similar (lighter) tone. Again, should the type of wood be different? solid to engineered? 3” to 4 or 5”?

The floors on the second story are in excellent condition. We are stretching our budget just doing this reno, so the second floor will not change.

If you are aware of any 3/4” solids that are a little more brown than gunstock, please let us know.

What do we do? Thanks so much for your advice!

Hal
