Urgent help please! Scary brown spots all over my plants
Comments (10)Hi Happy, Hopefully, the experts on the forum will look at the photos and give advice. In the meantime, I looked at the photos. It does appear that there was some type of chemical cleaning spray used in the office that may have gotten onto your plants. Would it be possible that there was a janitorial service that came in over the holiday break and did some spray cleaning? Suggest you might want to wash off the leaves and carefully dry them. Were there any blooms on the plants? Also, is there any possibility that the night cleaning crew is going around and watering your plants without your knowledge? That happened in my office. Once we realized what was going on, we asked the office cleaners not to water the AV personal plants. Perhaps you can take them home to recover if you have a place to isolate them. They don't look like goners. The spots seem isolated, like some chemical sprayed on them. But I am no expert. Glad you posted the photos to ask the Forum. Just one other thought, does the office use any pesticide? I discovered that a lot can go on in an office at night, the plants will be the first tell-tale sign of chemical usage. Comments (8)Tap the stems of the plant and the damaged leaves will drop off. That will also stimulate the plant to make new ones. I have some huge jade plants that finally made it through a seasons frosts and they have huge trunks on them. Set them and let them do their thing. Jades in low light stay greenish and in high light and sun they get a nice burgundy edge to the leaves. At least they do on mine. Good luck....See MoreSOS! In desperate need of Jade plant advice!
Comments (8)Truly I just left it alone and treated it the same as I had, just making sure it was watered during the long heat spells we've had. Those photos are about 2 months apart, but as a tiny propagation it doesn't do anything very quickly. The jade in the first pic thats out of focus, that one got some burned tips too. It shed them and I couldn't tell anything was different a few weeks later. Yours will likely shed some of its leaves with burnt tips. Your plant shows signs of your weariness to over water, and with a Jade it's not a big deal. It'll bounce back and recover from almost anything. If it still looks wrinkled like in the photo, I would let it soak in water for a half a day or so, and then pour some more fresh water through it afterward. Then I'd leave it be until the soil was dried again....See MoreSaving a Jade plant
Comments (49)Plant is doing what it is supposed to do :) Even if you only pruned branches to 2 - 3 sets of leaves, it would branch. Most likely from the cut, but also along branches. As you can see, they grow from many nodes, and that is normal. Branching cold be desirable. If not, simply rub off what you don't want while tiny. You not only pruned, but defoliated too. Btw, defoliating is not a problem. It is used to achieve certain results. If my plant, I would wait to see how the branches grow. They can be pruned anytime. I don't think you can 'order' it to grow just leaves. When defoliated as you did, it will branch, maybe bit more than if just pruned parts of etiolated branches (BUT, I am not absolute sure). At the same time, it needs leaves to be able to photosynthesize - to feed the plant. So plant is in a hurry to grow as many as possible :)...See MoreJulia Jones
