PF offered to come buff and put another coat, but we objected it since all 4 coats were put within 6.5 hours and we are not sure that previous coats are good. PF also offered to do full refinish but we don't have confidence that PF can do a good job this time. PF himself does not guarantee that second time the finish will work because as he says we do not have perfect humidity conditions. PF says all his employees are certified and did everything within the Bona's guideline. I don't know how 4 coats in 6.5 hours is within Bona's guideline but he is a type of a person that can claim that yogurt is black. The inspector made a mistake and told us that only one person was certified from PF. After we told PF that we talked to female inspector and she said that from our description it looks like PF was at fault, PF tracked down the inspector (we did not disclose inspector's name to PF), called her to correct her that all his employees are certified. In addition PF threatened the inspector to take her to NFWA ethics boards and told her how much money he makes a year and that she should be careful. PF told the inspector that she cannot work for us since he hired her once and that would be a conflict of interest since the inspector has a dislike for him. He is willing to pay $1400 for the damages and walk away if we sign NDA. I told him $1400 would not even cover our accommodation and moving and storage fees of our belongings that we are incurring because of him plus we have to sign a NDA that will free him from any future responsibly of his subfloor and floor install work. We contacted PF and told that it was wrong to track down the inspector and threaten her. PF denied that he threatened the inspector and only called her to correct that all his employees are certified. Also PF tried multiple times to convince us to hire an inspector of his choice for $500. We said we want an independent inspector. He says the inspector we found is a rip off as their fee is $2800.

I would suggest carrying the vinyl planks into the kitchen. That looks like colonial white granite, so I would go with white subway tile backsplash. Make sure to get samples of the backsplash to compare to your cabinet color and countertops (you wouldn't want a bright white backsplash with off-white cabinets). Also, depending on the variation in the actual slab of granite you chose, colonial white should work with most off-whites (BM Simply White, Cloud White, White Dove; SW Pure White, Alabaster, Snowbound are good examples of off-white). If you are set on tile, it should be from one of the colors in your granite and should not have a pattern. It's a good rule of thumb to have only one pattern in hard finishes (most tiles are blotchy in color which means they have a pattern). ETA: I don't see any reason why the island needs to have a contrasting finish. I will borrow this from Maria "boring now equals timeless later" :). You don't want each finish to be the star. In this case, the countertops have the pattern and will be the star and everything else will nicely support them. Then, your styling, décor, artwork, etc will bring the kitchen to life from there.

I am having some doubts about the 4" White Oak floors that I had installed recently. I requested 2 coats of Bona Nordic Seal and then 3 coats of Traffic HD Anti Slip. For some reason I noticed when the wood was delivered it looked pinkish, and yet the stamp on the wood said White Oak -- - BUT not all the wood had this stamp just the ones placed at the very top of the stack. I thought why should I question what is stamped on the wood. Now that everything is installed, the floor looks pinkish especially in natural light. What do you think based on the photos. Does this look like White Oak to you?

These finishes are all aged look finishes. You will need to use a reactive stain and hard wax oils. Some hard wax oils can be coated with a water base polyurethane for added protection. This look is pricey. Start looking at Ciranova products. A cheaper alternative is Bona Nordicseal but, this system does not really give you a aged look. Mainly white washed. . Nordicseal will hide the grain of the wood like a typical stain.
