What a bummer in the Garden, sad rant on what to do next
Comments (7)Inclined to agree with Ann. Roses, even quite large ones, can be kept successfully in pots for years with only a modicum of extra care - I have several which get the old potting soil scraped off the top couple of inches and replaced with new stuff every year. Every 3-4 years, I turn them out and trim the roots and I use a general slow-release fertiliser such as Osmacote. While multiflora is not reknowned for its long bloom season, it does make a nicely foliated full bush which will not get as rampant in a pot. I fully sympathise with your tender heart (although mine is quite a bit more stony) and if you are cursed/blessed (take your pick) with a sentimental nature, then go ahead and keep the rose. As far as I understand, multiflora has been a host for the particular mite which causes RRD - the disease will affect any rose so having a multiflora on your property will make little difference if mites are upwind of you - any rose will act as a potential host....See MoreWhat do you wish you had done differently when you built bed?
Comments (7)I made several boxes, 5 feet by 15 inches (they looked like hobbit coffins) and lined them up in fifteen foot runs. My idea was that if I got tired of using them for veggies, I could put them here or there in the yard as planters for irises or whatever, and the weight wouldn't be too bad so one person could move them. However, having boxes like that makes it hard to run a soaker hose under the soil surface. You either have to loop the soaker hose above the end walls of the boxes, or drill holes to run the hose. If I were to do it again, I'd use 16 foot 2x10 or 2x12 so I could have an uninterrupted run of hose. I'd also securely affix a small vertical pipe to the inside of the box with a female garden hose fitting poking out above the surface, and a male garden hose fitting under the surface attaching to the completely buried soaker hose. That way if anyone pulls on the supply hose it doesn't disturb the soaker hose. Why sixteen feet? Because that's the length of the cattle panel I use for a trellis; or, as you can see in the picture, you can bend three of them into Gothic arches to make 'a cathedral of tomato worship'....See MoreBuilt In Desk Idea in Bedroom what do U think?
Comments (27)Hi may flowers, thanks, hum my computer would be sitting on the granite but I don't think my hands would be resting on the granite, not sure how that cold would affect me. I do know that granite is colder than any other surfaces. Hi patty cakes, I think the built in utilizes the space the best but I am reconsidering and looking at drop lid secretaries, although most are not large (wide) enough to fill up the space and so there is a waste of that space. so many decisions. would wall mount the TV above, still need to do something with the dish control box though,...See MoreCarpet smell!! No idea what to do next
Comments (4)The odor could be coming from the walls. Sheetrock absorbs smells over the years. Has the bedroom been painted. If not, painting will probably delete the odor you are smelling. I also agree with, Bri, after 10 years replace carpet and pad or do as you would like for replacing the flooring....See Moremaugena
