Comments (15)Thanks, that makes sense. I got to see the house for the first time this past weekend (yes, I bought a house I'd never seen). The hinges on the fridge are on that side because the fridge is truly stuffed into that corner against the wall. There's no room for the door to swing open on that side. If my wife wants to keep her french door fridge, we will have to come up with a different plan. That kitchen is tiny, and I'm a bit sick of poorly designed kitchens. Right now I'm inclined to tear everything out and start over. I'm still not sure about moving the hood vent and that wall to the right of the pantry houses the a/c so that stays. I do think I'll pull that pantry out and modify an existing wall in the hallway, the one on the other side of that wall that houses the a/c. That will be the new pantry. That'll give us a tiny bit more counter space in the kitchen. Thanks again, Cathy. You've been very helpful....See MoreSmall Basement Kitchen - Help on corner cabinet

Comments (42)Kirkhall, when I first visited this discussion yesterday or the day before?, there were numerous pictures in the original post. Now I only see one and the writing ends in mid-sentence. Odd. And too bad because the photos were gorgeous. I think this is a glitch Houzz needs to address. I've read somewhere that they have a character/size limit for posts. But when you write a post, there's no little box showing you how many characters you have left. So how do we know when we've reached the limit?...See MoreSmall kitchen remodel - help on corner layout
Comments (12)Thanks for all the great ideas! Gennifer - the first thing our KD considered was moving the peninsula to make room for the DW! However, it would push the peninsula right up to the slider doors to the deck. With our kids (and their friends), the peninsula seating is in heavy use throughout the day, and we felt we would be narrowing the path to the slider doors to the deck too much. So - we decided to keep the DW where is already is. Cpartist - that's an interesting idea! We never even considered removing the peninsula and adding an island. I'm not quite sure we could actually remove the fridge wall to make room since that wall is part of our small family room and has furniture against it. An interesting thought though! Mamagoose - I like the idea of the shallower cabinets, and it would be similar to the type of pantry storage we currently have (shelving vs pullouts). You are right - it would definitely provide a softer transition to the open space on the oven wall. Thanks all!...See MoreMiloni Mehta
